NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream

The burst of fall red lips. Wine lips for the winter. Pops of fuschia to add a touch of warmth to the colder seasons.

Lippies can make such a statement in any look….

Especially when you have the right materials! = ]

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream is EXACTLY the type of lippie I’ve been looking for!

A couple years ago I strayed into the world of glosses via Victoria Secret’s Pink Beauty Rush. I continued my beauty journey and stumbled onto L’Oreal Colour Riche Le Gloss (which I love!!) but is more sheer in color. Something perfect for daytime looks on the other hand. But anyway, I wanted to venture into something more bold. I have a couple lipsticks but without any lip liner, I’ve been really apprehensive (basically scared to death) to use them.

Then alast I discovered cherryculture.com and NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream..

“It’s not lipstick, nor is it lip gloss. It’s like nothing you’ve experienced before. It’s a lipstick cream that goes on silky but looks soft matte”

NYX couldn’t be more accurate.

These lip creams come in 11 different shades ranging from coral, pink, and peach nudes to deep reds cutely named after cities.

I purchased Stockholm (left) and Amsterdam (right). Stockholm is more of a pinky beige based nude and Amsterdam is a beautiful vibrant red.

The lip creams come packaged in small cute tubes with elegant, black writing on the tube with a soft cotton candy scent. Don’t worry about it being overbearing. The scent fades away but it isn’t heavy at all. It’s very light and delicious. ^_^

I love the texture of these lip creams. They are indeed very soft, smooth, and silky. The pigmentation is amazing. Really. You can get a nice look with one swipe and continue to build for more intensity. They dry to a matte perfection that looks fabulous without lip liner or gloss. Although it probably would AMAZING with both. With gloss, it looks very soft and makes the even more bold Amsterdam suitable for daytime wear.

Sadly, no lippie is perfect  =(

But these do come very close! One downside of the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams are that because they are so pigmented, they can be a tad drying. I would suggest using exfoliating your lips, coat with a moisturizing balm, let it sit, blot a little, and then apply the cream. That should counteract the dryness and cut down on feathering.

Another downside is the wear time. It may last up to 4-6 without any eating or drinking. Doing so will smear off some of the product especially if you pair it with a gloss. On the bright side, the creams do leave a nice stain behind. So it’s definitely not a disappointment.

I say these creams are a MUST have for beauties obsessed with or afraid of lipstick. They’re absolutely wonderful!

You can pick them up at NYX’s site, Ulta, and Sephora! You can also order from Cherryculture.com for $4.50! They’re regularly $6!
