NARS Voulez Vous Cheek & Eye Palette Review

Yes, I’ve been drinking a bit of the NARS Kool-Aid lately. But it’s so delicious! NARS has been on a roll this year and I’m just riding the wave. Can you blame me? The beauty giant has released some seriously amazing palettes and Voules Vous is yet another addition to the list. Check it out!

Last month Nordstrom graced us with their annual anniversary sale which included some new discounted fall fashions and beauty exclusives. NARS usually releases a really nice blush palette exclusively for anniversary but this year’s palette is a little different. Instead of six blushes, NARS offers anniversary shoppers two blushes and four eyeshadows all housed in your typical rubbery matte black packaging. Voulez Vous features:

  • Molokai eyeshadow
  • Antananarivo eyeshadow
  • Rangoun eyeshadow
  • LHASA eyeshadow
  • Deep Throat blush
  • Dolce Vita blush

If you’ve been around the NARS block a few times then these shades will seem pretty familiar and may already be in your stash. There’s not really any limited edition goodness here. Sorry ladies! But on the bright side, if you end up hitting pan on anything you can always get more. I don’t own any of these shades so this palette was an excellent buy for me. I’m a pretty big fan of NARS blushes but this was my first time trying the shadows. IF you’re new to NARS I think this is a great way to introduce yourself to the brand or try out some new shades.

I couldn’t be happier with the shade selection in Voulez Vous! It’s an excellent palette to travel with because you can achieve some pretty versatile looks with it. As much as I love bright colors I tend to reach for my neutrals more so this palette is right up my alley. I’m able to create an entire eye look (a pretty big concern of most palettes) and add color to my cheeks in perfect harmony. Everything meshes very well!

Deep Throat blush is a soft peachy pink with gold glitter. It’s one of the more popular shades of NARS blush but Deep Throat isn’t a favorite of mine. The peachy pink base gets lost on my skin leaving just a faint golden sheen. While this would make a nice everyday highlighter for a “no makeup” makeup look it just falls flat for me. I actually like to layer Dolce Vita on top. They look beautiful together!

Molokai eyeshadow is a shimmering champagne shade that glides on like butter and has pretty good pigmentation. It looks absolutely gorgeous on my lids and I think it would make a beautiful highlight for the inner eye and brow bone as well. Molokai blends very easily and has a beautiful satiny finish. You can see the shimmer in the pan and slightly when applied but it’s more of a sheen rather than a metallic effect.

Antananarivo eyeshadow is a matte soft brown shadow that also glides on effortlessly and has good pigmentation. Antananarivo makes a really nice transition shade but it’s a little too light for me. I think lighter beauties might really enjoy this shadow. It’s incredibly soft and silky for a matte. One of the silkiest matte shadows I’ve tried yet!

LHASA eyeshadow is a beautiful shimmering grey that almost looks lavender on. I love using it as an all over lid for a nice smokey eye or just on the inner corners time brighten up my eyes. LHASA isn’t super shimmery so it doesn’t look metallic but it does give a nice subtle sheen that’s really pretty. Like the other shadows, LHASA has great pigmentation, blends very easily and feels silky to the touch.

Ragoun eyeshadow is definitely my favorite of the bunch! In the pan it looks like a shimmery bronze shade but when applied it looks totally different! It’s actually more of a deep brown with a satin finish. The glitter in the pan looks so huge but for some reason it’s very hard to pick up and doesn’t translate well at all when applied. This may disappoint you glitter fans but I’m actually very pleased with the turn out! Ragoun is what really pulls this palette together for me. Antananarivo and LHASA are too light for me to contour. Especially if I want to go for a smoky nighttime look. So Ragoun is just perfect! Like th rest of the shadows, it has great color payoff, blends well and feels soft to the touch.

Dolce Vita blush is a matte dusty rose blush that looks divine on my brown skin! I think it would make an excellent everyday blush. It reminds me a bit of fall but I definitely think it works well for the summer months too. It has the perfect amount of pink without  being too light or harsh. Dolce Vita, like many of NARS blushes, is extremely pigmented so I’d definitely recommend applying with a light hand, I like to use a small duo fibre brush like my MAC 159.

For just $60 I think this palette would be an excellent addition to any stash. It’s perfect for travel as it’s small and able to create a multitude of looks. Not to mention that the quality is definitely there! NARS is known for his pigmented, long lasting formula and each products performed up to standards. Even without a base or primer I was able to get over 6 hours of wear with little fading. Both the blushes and eyeshadows applied and blended smoothly with very little fallout. Voulez Vous is definitely a winner! Check out your local
