Ipsy Glam Bag Round Up!

Well hello ladies! I know you may be wondering if I’m still an Ipsy subscriber and the answer is yes! So much has been going on that I kind of pushed August and September’s bags to the side. But they’re ready to shine now. Check it out!

August actually turned out to be a pretty nice month! Lately, I’ve been a little disappointed with my Glam bags because I felt the samples were getting redundant but this bag wasn’t too bad. I received:

    • Michael Todd Jojoba Charcoal facial scrub
    • Urban Decay Revolution lipstick in Anarchy
    • Mica Beauty Bronze shimmer powder
    • Pixi Lash Builder mascara
    • Chella Dazzling Brow Color Pencil in Dark Brown (not pictured)

Urban Decay Revolution lipstick in Anarchy and Mica Beauty Bronze shimmer powder

I’ve played around with everything except the mascara and I’m pleased with the samples. I tried the Michel Todd face scrub on the back of my hand and it feels like it should exfoliate pretty well. I can’t wait to use it so I can see how it really performs! The Urban Decay lipstick sample was definitely my favorite sample this month. Anarchy is a bright fuchsia shade that looks great on everyone. It goes on a super creamy and then sets to a nice satin finish. It wears and stains like a matte but it has a soft sheen. The Mica Beauty shimmer powder was another impressive product this month. It’s a shimmering bronze gold powder that would make a beautiful highlight or eyeshadow. It’s very pigmented, soft and it blends very easily. I didn’t notice the Chella brow pencil until it tumbled out of the bag at the last minute but I’m glad I noticed it! I go through brow pencils like nobody’s business so I was super excited to receive one. The dark brown shade is perfect! It’s a tiny bit lighter than my current brow pencil (MAC Spiked) but the texture is very similar. I’ll be sure to review it once I start using it!

And then we have last month’s bag which was really, really disappointing. I mentioned earlier Ipsy was getting redundant and I feel like September was filled with ghosts of Glam bag past. I’ve received a mascara sample in just about every Glam bag this year and all of them have been from low end brands. I received:

      • Cailyn Cosmetics Tinted Lip Balm
      • Elizabeth Mott It’s So Big Volumizing mascara
      • NYX Eyeshadow in
      • J Cat Beauty Fantabulous lipstick
      • Jessie’s Girl Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner

I’m no makeup snob (not hardcore at least lol) but if I’m going to pay for mascara samples every month they better be from brands other than Pop Beauty and Pixi. NYX is also starting to become an issue for me. My longtime readers know I’m pretty big fan of NYX but I’m over seeing them in my bag just about every month. I’m ready for something new Ipsy! I’m not at all interested in the tinted balm sample or the lipstick. I haven’t even opened them. The only good thing about September’s bag was the eyeliner and the shadow. The liner is super pigmented, glides on smoothly and wears very well. I had no issues with smudging or fading. The eyeshadow is actually nice quality too. I’m just tired of seeing NYX and Ipsy in the same sentence. I’m actually considering canceling my subscription because I’m bored with the samples and don’t even use them most of the time. I’m hoping October’s bag will be MUCH better!
