Milani Fiery Coral Lip Intense Review

Yes, even more Milani! Milani has always been one of my favorite drugstore brands so it’s become a go to brand during my MAC break. Since I first started seeing pictures of the new Spring collection I knew I wanted to try the new Lip Intense liquid lip colors. The color range is limited but I love all of the colors!

My first pick of the bunch was Fiery Coral. It’s an incredibly bright coral pink that would look beautiful on lighter and darker skin tones. The packaging is pretty as well but I love it! The Lip Intense liquid lip colors come in a long, slim plastic tube with gold lettering and a small cap. Although the cap was smaller than I was expecting it’s very comfortable to hold during application. Good job, Milani!

The wand is fairly long with a nice sized paddle shaped applicator. It’s soft yet still firm enough not to bend or wobble around during application. It works well applying color to the center of my lips but the wider applicator does make it a little difficult to be precise in the inner corners. I wish Milani would have opted for a tapered applicator for this line.

I’m completely sold on the color of Fiery Coral but the formula left a lot to be desired. On its own I found Fiery Coral to be drying and extremely clingy. The formula reminds me a lot of the NYX Soft Matte Creams but it doesn’t start off slippery or glossy. It’s a little thick but it’s not sticky or tacky. Very much like a liquid lipstick. Fiery Coral is insanely pigmented in one swipe and applies pretty evenly. But it clings to every dry patch and settles deep into every lip line. Plus, the formula is so dry it almost dragged across my lips. No good! Paired with a balm and lip primer I saw MUCH better results. The formula applied rather smoothly, didn’t feather as much and was much easier on my lips once I prepped with my Jack Black balm and Prep + Prime. Once on, Fiery Coral lasts for around 3-4 hours. I was hoping it would last a little longer but that’s pretty average for most lipsticks. Like some of my MAC lippies, it doesn’t fade gracefully so I had to keep an eye on it throughout the day. It leaves the dreaded ring of color once it starts to completely fade so you’ll want to keep it handy on days out. While I adore the color, I must admit, I wouldn’t repurchase Fiery Coral. You’d have to have perfectly moist, line free lips to enjoy it without too much maintenance. If you’re up for the challenge you can find Fiery Coral online at Milani for $6.49 or at your local drugstore!
