Valentine’s Day is over but I can still feel the pink kisses in the air! To keep the pink spirit going I’m sporting the NYX Addis Ababa Soft Matte Lip Cream. It’s so pretty! It sort of reminds me of Valentine’s Day a bit because it smells like sweet candy! Not to mention it gives you the sexiest matte pout. Take a look!

NYX keeps things sweet and simple with the Soft Matte Lip Cream packaging. Addis Ababa comes in a bright pink sturdy plastic tube with a rubbery matte black top. It feels pretty lightweight and is very easy to hold and grip. Of course, it doesn’t feel as luxurious as a high end lippie but it definitely doesn’t scream drugstore. It’s actually pretty cute!

Addis Ababa has a small, soft slanted doe foot applicator that works well for my fuller lips. The tip is pretty tapered too so it should work well for smaller pouts too. It feels good on the lips and applies the formula very well. Although the formula is matte it starts off very creamy and slippery so the nice plush applicator definitely helps with precise application.

In the tube, Addis Ababa looks like an intensely bright fuchsia but it’s actually very soft once applied. It’s not nearly as bright on me as it is in the tube. I was slightly disappointed at first but I do like how wearable it is. NYX labels Addis Ababa as a cream but it feels like a liquid lipstick. It glides on the lips very easily but it dries down to a completely matte finish within a few seconds. It’s much more forgiving on my dry lips than most matte formulas but it isn’t perfect. Naturally, Addis Ababa is pretty drying as there’s no sheen or moisture in sight. So I definitely suggest prepping with a nice balm before applying. It wore for around 5 hours before starting to fade and settle into lip lines but I think it would fare much better with a lip primer like Prep + Prime. On it’s own it still performs pretty well and doesn’t leave my lips looking wrecked after a few hours.Definitely an improvement! I highly recommend checking out the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams. Especially if you struggle with matte lippies like me! They’re around $6 and available at NYX, Ulta and your local CVS if you’re lucky!
