MAC Viva Glam Rihanna Lipstick Review
Well hello again, RiRi! Last year, MAC gave us a full on Rihanna fever but the madness isn’t quite over yet. This year, she’s teamed up with MAC again to become the new face of the ever so lovely Viva Glam campaign. At first I was so bummed that she was pushing yet another red lipstick but it’s slowly growing on me. Take a look!
Viva Glam Rihanna is described as a blue red with a frost finish and comes in the most gorgeous rubbery red packaging. I just adore the way the tube looks! The actual lipstick took some getting used to though. I’m not much of a red lip gal and I’m definitely not a frost fan. But I’m kind of digging Viva Glam Rihanna! It’s supposed to be a cool blue red but I find it to be more neutral. Depending on your skin tone it can pull warm or cool so it’s best to try this one on if you’re not sure. Despite my love for glitter, I was quite nervous about the frost formula. For some reason frosty lipstick reminds me of old ladies. This definitely isn’t the case with Viva Glam Rihanna. Thank goodness! The frost is very subdued upon application and gives more of a wet look. I’ve heard a lot of reviews about MAC’s frost formula being a bit drying but I didn’t find Viva Glam Rihanna drying at all. It’s pretty creamy actually and goes on very smoothly. I didn’t feel any glitter at all during wear. It wears quite comfortably for about 4 hours before it begins to fade. As I mentioned earlier, it gives more of a wet look when applied but as it starts to fade the frost begins to shine through. After about 5 hours, the base becomes less prominent and you’re left behind with a soft stain and noticeable flecks of glitter.
Even if you’re not a frost fan (like me) I still recommend checking out Viva Glam Rihanna. It’s a beautiful lipstick inside and out! Plus every cent goes towards the MAC AIDS Fund which helps men, women and children affected by HIV/AIDS. So it’s like you’re donating to charity and getting a free lipstick in return. Cool right?
