I vowed to explore other brands this year and I must say I’m loving this breath of fresh air! As much as I love MAC, there are a ton of other companies that make some pretty amazing products. I’ve definitely been missing out a bit. Especially when it comes to Lancome! I’ve always kind of considered it an “older” brand. You know? For the more mature crowd. But I’m really digging this Rouge In Love lipstick!
The packaging features an all metal design that’s simple, sturdy and chic. I do wish it had some indication of the color on the tube so it would be easier to spot if I owned a few more of them. But it works! It has a nice luxury feel without coming off as bulky or heavy. Plus, it isn’t a finger print magnet which I love.
Violette Coquette certainly isn’t a lipstick you’d catch your mom or grandma sporting! It’s a beautiful bright pinky violet with hints of purple shimmer mixed in and a light floral scent. The shimmer is noticeable on the lips but it doesn’t appear frosty at all. It reminds me a lot of my beloved Viva Glam Rihanna. Violette Coquette has excellent pigmentation and is very easy to apply. It’s opaque and even in one swipe and it’s very creamy. It appears a bit glossy upon application but dries down to a satin finish in about an hour. I found it to be pretty moisturizing and comfortable to wear from start to finish. It lasts for around 4-5 hours before fading into a lovely stain that wears for another 1-2 hours. Even with heavy eating and drinking Violette Coquette held up very well with no bleeding or feathering in sight. The formula is pretty darn perfect! I honestly can’t think of one bad thing to say about Violette Coquette. The price is a little steep ($28.50) but I have to admit that it’s worth it. Any lipstick that’s fuss free on my dry lips is a winner for me! You can find Violette Coquette at your local Sephora or Lancome counter.
