National Lipstick Day is over but I still have a crap ton of lipsticks to review for you guys! I was already aware that I have a lipstick problem but I’m starting to realize just how serious it is. I have what feels like a million lipsticks but I still can’t resist picking up more when I’m out. I just can’t help it!
When I started getting into the Maybelline Vivids lipsticks I felt it was only right to start trying a few of the Color Sensational lipsticks too. I couldn’t have them feeling left out! So I picked up Fuchsia Fever to give it a new home and a little loving. As you can see, the packaging is very close to the Vivids line except the plastic tops are color coordinated to match the lipstick. The formula is a little different though.
Fuchsia Fever is a really interesting name for this lipstick because it’s not fuchsia at all! It’s actually a light, cool pink with blue undertones and satin finish. Unfortunately, Fuchsia Fever sports the same powdery pamper-like scent as the Vivids that I don’t care for. It isn’t super strong but it does linger a bit. Fuchsia Fever has a creamy texture that glides across the lips and applies evenly and opaque with just one layer. I didn’t find it to be as creamy as my Vivids lipsticks but it was still comfortable to wear. Fuchsia Fever lasted for around 5 hours before beginning to fade into a stain. It wasn’t drying but it wasn’t too friendly on my dry lips either. The formula is very clingy so it accentuates dryness and settles into lip lines considerably. Applying a balm, primer or lip liner underneath helped a great deal but I was still a little disappointed. I just adore the color! It’s so pretty and surprisingly unique to my stash so I was hoping it would be less maintenance. I think Fuchsia Fever would look so good on a variety skin tones so I do recommend giving it a try. However, if you have drier lips and don’t care too much to fuss with lipsticks it may not be the lippie for you.
