Too Faced Melted Violet Lipstick Review

What’s life without a little trial and error? I couldn’t wait to get my hands on one of the new Too Faced Melted Lipsticks after seeing them all over blogs and Instagram. They just looked so luscious! I was so excited to slather Melted Violet all over my lips but my first time was so underwhelming. It faded incredibly quickly and left my lips looking super icky in no time. I hated it!

It’s a good thing I didn’t give up on it though! Things got so much better the more I played around with the formula. Whew! Melted Violet is a bright, cool violet with blue undertones and a sweet candy-like scent. The packaging is similar to the L.A. Girl Glazed Lip Paints except it features a soft, fuzzy doe foot applicator and it’s much easier to control and apply. I’m able to achieve a clean, precise application without much fuss at all.

The formula is very creamy, lightweight and ultra pigmented. It glides on to the lips smoothly and evenly without any tugging or pulling. It does have a slight sheen upon application but it sets to a creamy satin finish within an hour or two. Melted Violet isn’t moisturizing but it wasn’t too drying either. I still recommend exfoliating and prepping with a balm for the best results though. Depending on how you wear Melted Violet it can be a dream or a nightmare on dry lips. The first few times I applied a light layer without any balm underneath and it was a mess! It was patchy and faded within 2 hours and it made my lips look flaky and gross. The next time around, I squeezed out a nice, juicy amount and it performed so much better! Although it’s very pigmented you’ll still want to layer it on for the best wear. With a heavier application (and blotted balm underneath), Melted Violet wore comfortably for around 4-6 hours before fading into a light stain. It does bleed and feather a little bit but I didn’t experience much settling at all. I’ll admit, I wasn’t too fond of Melted Violet at first but with the right application it’s pure love! If you have perfectly smooth lips or don’t mind a little trial and error then you totally need to give Too Faced Melted Violet Lipstick a try!

This looks beautiful on you! Love the color. It would probably look a little nuts on me but you can really pull it off. 🙂

Thanks Amy! You may want to check out the other shades like Peony, Marshmallow and Nude. They’re more wearable but still very pretty!
