Maybelline Power Peony Rebel Bloom Lipstick Review

We’re finally starting to get a bit of snow here in Michigan but I’m already dreaming of spring. Lately we’ve been enjoying 40-50 degree weather but now it’s like 10 degrees outside and I can’t deal. Please give me sunshine and warmth! Both would go so well with my new Maybelline Power Peony Rebel Bloom lipstick!

Power Peony is a pastel bubblegum pink with a cool undertone and soft sheen. It’s the kind of pink that can be hard to pull off but the Rebel Bloom formula makes it quite easy to wear. Power Peony has a buildable semi-sheer coverage that allows your natural lip color to peak through a bit. The result is a soft, juicy finish that doesn’t look heavy, cakey, chalky or ashy. Just lusciously pastel lips!

As I mentioned with Orchid Ecstasy, the Rebel Bloom formula is quite similar to the MAC Lustre lipstick formula. It’s more on the sheer side and has a lightweight texture but Power Peony feels creamier and more moisturizing than any Lustre I’ve tried. It also performs a little better too! Power Peony does seem to emphasize flakes and settle into lip lines a bit upon application (like a Lustre) but as it wears on the formula seems to melt into my lips making the imperfections much less noticeable.

While Power Peony wears quite well for a pastel pink it doesn’t last too long. It lasts around 2-3 hours before fading into a light stain. Since the formula is so easy to wear I don’t mind touching up here and there but Power Peony may not work for you if you’re looking for something a little more long lasting. However, if you’re on the lookout for a soft, pastel pink lipstick for spring the Maybelline Power Peony Rebel Bloom lipstick is a great choice!

  1. Hey Fancie, I don’t mind snow that much as long as it’s not dark and gloomy! We had some a couple of weeks ago, but now it’s just cold!

I don’t think I can pull something like this off, but it looks really nice on you!

I just hate snow lol. I don’t think I’ll ever get used to it. This is a hard color to pull off but I think it would look pretty on you. You seem to be able to pull off just about anything lol
