Rimmel Atomic Rose Show Off Matte Lip Velvet Review

It seems like everyone is jumping on the liquid lipstick bandwagon these days. But in the words of Drake, “It ain’t about who did it first, it’s about who did it right.” Preach! I’ve tried a handful of liquid lipsticks but the Rimmel Atomic Rose Show Off Matte Lip Velvet? It ain’t right man. It just ain’t right.

Atomic Rose is warm peachy pink that leans almost orange on my complexion. It’s not the easiest shade to pull off but that’s not my gripe with the Atomic Rose. It’s the formula. I didn’t enjoy this lipstick at all!

Atomic Rose applies smoothly and evenly with full coverage and a lightweight creamy texture that dries down to a matte finish. Unfortunately, that’s like the only nice thing I have to say about it. It has the same off putting hand lotion scent as the original line. The color emphasizes flakes and settles into lip lines considerably as it wears on. Atomic Rose looked so cracked and dry on my lips I refused to wear it out of the house. It was that bad!

On the bright side, the formula isn’t drying so it was at least comfortable to wear for the 3-4 hours it lasted. I really hope the rest of the Show Off Matte Lip Velvet gang performs a lot better than Atomic Rose because this thing was a disaster. If you happen to see it in stores, run! Fast!
