Today marks the last day of Black History Month so it’s only right I share a little more black beauty with you! This time I’m gonna shine a little light on Black Opal, another drugstore beauty line geared towards women of color. Lately, I’ve been obsessing over their cream concealer sticks but I recently tried a couple of the Color Splurge Lipsticks and they’re pretty great too!
The first shade I picked up was the spunky Jazzberry. She’s a cool vibrant violet with a slight pink undertone, creamy satin finish and a faint sweet cinnamon scent. Jazzberry is a soft, easy to wear purple that still manages to make a statement without being too bright or bold.
Once you get past Jazzberry’s cool purple exterior you’ll really enjoy the formula too! It’s lightweight, smooth and creamy with full, even coverage in a single swipe. Despite the name, I didn’t find Jazzberry to be matte at all. There’s a noticeable sheen all throughout wear and it isn’t drying in the least bit. So this might be disappointing if you’re looking for a straight up matte lipstick.
However, if you can get jiggy with a satin finish and soft sheen you’ll still grow to appreciate Jazzberry. It wears rather comfortably for around 5-6 hours without emphasizing flakes, settling into lip lines, bleeding or feathering. It even leaves behind an intense stain that’ll keep you touch-up free all day. I totally recommend it!
