5 Ways to Achieve that Summer Glow

Summer Glow Highlight WOC Dark Skin Bronzer

Some of you lucky ducks have been soaking up all the good sunshine and warm weather for months now. But for most of us on the east coast, we’re just now reaching those hot 80º days and you know what that means. Time to start chasing that summer glow! You already know I’m over here trying to glow in the dark like an Atlanta housewife so I wanted to share some tips to get you glowing too.

Ole Henriksen Black Currant Perfecting Complexion Oil, Physicians Formula Argan Oil

Skincare

Let’s start at the very beginning: skincare. Beauty oils are a great way to make your skin look naturally radiant and luminous with little effort. Just mix a drop or two into your moisturizer and let it work its magic. For the face, I recommend the Ole Henriksen Black Currant Perfecting Complexion Oil and Physicians Formula Argan Oil. As a bonus, you can use the Physicians Formula Illuminating Argan Oil on your body to glow all over!

NYX Honey Dew Me Up Priner & Serum

Primer

Toss a hydrating and illuminating primer into your routine! Not only will it help your makeup look smooth and lock it in place but it’ll also give the skin a natural all over glow like a beauty oil. My current fave is the NYX Honey Dew Me Up Primer & Serum.

Benefit Sunbeam, MAC Golden Elixir Strobe Liquid

Liquid Illuminators

These multitasking beauties are great to have in your arsenal! You can use them alone on your cheekbones and other high points of your face or you can mix them into you moisturizer or foundation for a sun kissed complexion. I absolutely love MAC’s Golden Elixir Strobe Liquid (which sadly, is limited edition) but Benefit’s Sun Beam works just as great.

Benefit Watt's Up, NARS Puerto Vallarta Multiple

Highlight Sticks

Highlighting has never been simpler thanks to cream highlight sticks. You can swipe them on straight from the tube, dab a little using your fingers or buff these babies into the skin for a natural lit from within glow or an all out bronzed goddess look. I recommend trying Benefit’s Watt’s Up and NARS Puerto Vallarta Multiple.

Physicians Formula Argan Oil Bronzer, Sonia Kashuk Goddess Illuminating Bronzer

Bronzers

And last but not least, bronzers! Bronzers are personally my favorite way to glow through the night because they’re easy to use and usually pretty darn beautiful. Who doesn’t enjoy a little eye candy while doing their makeup? Bronzers also have a touch of color to them so they add a bit of warmth to the skin too. I’ve been loving the Physicians Formula Argan Oil Bronzer and Sonia Kashuk Goddess Illuminating Bronzer lately.

I HATE when they do stuff like that! Especially when it’s something that’s not really dupable. I’ve been dying for them to rerelease it lol. I haven’t used an eyeshadow in a long time to highlight, though. Think I’m gonna pull out one of my MAC shadows this weekend. Thanks for reminding me!

  2. You have a great arsenal of glow-enhancers there, Fancie! I have a miniature Benefit Sun Beam, but I find it too glowy for my combination skin. No doubt it works better on people whose skin has less of a tendency to become shiny on its own tho!

Lol probably too many! Sun Beam is definitely full force though. I mostly use it when I’m going out at night

Thank you! And I’ll checking it out now!

  5. I’d like to know how yall are using sun beam because mine has been sitting on my vanity for months. It doesn’t do much at all in the way of giving me glow.

There’s a few different ways you can use Sun Beam. You can pat it on your cheekbones and down the bridge of your nose to highlight. Or mix it with your foundation or moisturizer for an all over glow. How are you currently using it?
