Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser Review

Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser

As a makeup junkie, I can definitely appreciate the art and beauty of a beat face. However, there’s nothing more important than skincare! Makeup is fun, expressive and creative–a true form of art. But what good is all that fancy paint and such if the canvas isn’t up to par?

That’s one of many reasons I try to keep my skin in tip-top shape. Healthy skin just makes you look amazing–whether you’re wearing makeup or sporting a bare face. One of my recent skincare buys has been playing a pretty big role in keeping my skin healthy and looking great so I figured I’d share the details with ya.

Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser

I picked up the Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser a couple of months ago and I’m rather impressed! It has a slightly thick yet creamy gel texture that melts into the skin and produces a very light, milky lather. As the name implies, the formula is very gentle so it’s safe for the eye area (doesn’t sting at all) and it doesn’t leave my face feeling tight or dry afterwards. The Gentle Skin Cleanser actually leaves my skin soft, supple and radiant. Sounds great, right?

But the formula isn’t perfect. Which is okay. I didn’t expect a drugstore cleanser to do it all–especially one this gentle. My only complaint with the Gentle Skin Cleanser is that it doesn’t handle makeup all that well. It removes a nice chunk of it but a follow up with my Chanel toner revealed that quite a bit of makeup had been left behind. On a typical day, I’m usually only sporting powder, eye makeup (brows, falsies, eyeliner) and lipstick or gloss so a quick swipe of toner is enough to get my face fully clean. But if you like to sport a full face on a regular basis, I definitely recommend removing your makeup first. Or pair the Gentle Skin Cleanser with your Clarisonic (if you have one). Together, the two create an amazing combo that leaves my skin feeling super clean (no dirt during toning!) without feeling stripped.

Overall, I think the Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser is an excellent bargain buy for beauties with sensitive or dry skin. Just be sure to keep a makeup wipe or toner on hand if you like to beat face everyday! You can find it at your local CVS, Walgreens and Ulta.

  1. I’ve used this cleanser for years, it’s a holy grail for me. I do not use it to remove makeup, I use it after removing makeup as a second step. For my sensitive skin, it’s amazing 🙂

I totally agree! I think it’s one of the best formulas available for sensitive skin

I love Cetaphil! I agree most of their cleansers aren’t strong enough to remove makeup, but they are great for gentle, light cleansing or when skin is irritated. I have the Daily Cleanser for Normal to Oily Skin – it’s very gentle, I use it in the morning, when my skin might be a little oily from night creams.

You know what? I honestly don’t even mind that they aren’t that great with makeup. Any cleanser that doesn’t irritate my skin or make it dry and flaky is good in my book. Especially when it costs less than 10 bucks. You can’t beat that!
