Mo’ makeup, mo’ problems! If you follow me on Snapchat then you know I always find myself in the makeup aisles looking for something new. This time, I went to CVS in search of one thing, the new L’Oreal True Match Lumi Collection display and ended up running into a crap ton of new collections. All I can say is get your wallets ready ’cause it’s gonna get crazy!
First up, is my target, the L’Oreal True Match Lumi Collection that’s all about highlighting. There’s 3 liquid illuminators and 3 shimmering bronzer palettes in Golden (warm gold) , Rose (rose gold) and Ice (cool pink). You know how I feel about highlighting so of course I had to indulge in 2 of the illuminators (Golden and Rose) and the Golden bronzer.
Sonia Kashuk makes, hands down, some of the cutest brush sets ever. I’m always pleasantly surprised and wildly excited each time she releases one. The girl’s got style! Recently, Sonia Kashuk launched the bold and colorful Art of Makeup Collection filled with brush sets, brush cups, a makeup tray and more exclusively at Target.
Most people get excited over nudes and everyday colors but I’m here for the bold, fun colors. Like the MAC Matte Royal Lipstick that was recently released in the Matte Lip Collection. MAC did good making this shade permanent because I would have made like Ludacris and moved many a b#%$^ out the way for it. It’s that serious!
Matte Royal is described as a deep blue but it pulls more a vibrant “blurple” on me. It’s not quite full on blue but it’s not quite full on purple either. It’s a happy, playful mix of the two of that’s surprisingly flattering when you know how to complement it.
Let’s keep the hair talk going, shall we? For your beauty challenge today we’re gonna spill the beans on our haircare essentials. I live in a top bun mostly out of convenience and laziness so I don’t use too many products to maintain and style my hair. See? There’s definitely a method to the madness here! I simply wash my hair, deep condition every once in a while and let it air dry before throwing it in a bun. Easy peasy!
In between washes, I like to do a little maintenance like moisturizing and sealing my ends to keep them hydrated and healthy. To moisturize, I use the African Pride Olive Miracle Leave-In Conditioner which has been a staple in my stash for years. The ultra hydrating formula almost feels like water on my hair–instantly making it moist and soft. Olive Miracle also gives me tons of slip so it’s great for detangling too. I then follow up with my Jamaican Mango & Lime Jamaican Black Castor Oil to seal in that moisture and condition and nourish my hair. It’s thick but that stuff works! For an extra boost of moisture, I also like to co-wash with my Aussie Moist conditioner. It’s slip city and makes my hair super soft and shiny. Plus it smells really good too. Co-washing with this baby is a great way to give your hair an extra boost in the summer!
Yup, I’ve got another matte lipstick release for ya! I’m sure your head is probably still spinning from the new Colour Pop Ultra Matte Liquid Lipsticks and all those new Maybelline matte lipsticks and pencils but I have yet another matte collection to share. This time, Urban Decay is joining in on the fun with their new line of Matte Revolution Lipsticks. They shared a quick sneak peek on Instagram and dropped the bomb that they’re set to launch online at Urban Decay on July 12th. It looks like there’s going to be 9 shades and judging from the swatch collage I’m down for at least 4 of them. There’s no word yet on when we’ll start seeing these in stores but I’m hoping it’s right after the online release cause I’m in a matte frenzy right now!
Will you be trying any of the new Urban Decay Matte Revolution Lipsticks?
It’s been a looong time since I did a hair care haul. About a year, actually. Long overdue! So when I needed to pick up some more Jamaican Black Castor Oil I decided to grab a few products I’ve had my eye on too. Here’s what I picked up:
Oooo, now this is a good beauty challenge! I recently started using the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel Cream which I love (and am giving away here) because it’s incredibly lightweight, absorbs super quickly and gives my skin a soft matte finish. Sounds perfect for summer right? Almost. The biggest drawback is that it doesn’t contain SPF. Boo! Ever since I’ve started using it I’ve been on the hunt for a good sunscreen that doesn’t make me look ashy or have my makeup looking all funky.
You know what time it is! When I love something I love to share it with you guys. Both figuratively and literally. Lately, I’ve been all about healthy skin and thanks to these drugstore goodies my skin is in tip top shape. So why not share the wealth? (more…)
Can you believe that just adding a little Jamaican Black Castor Oil to your routine can completely transform your hair? You should! For centuries, Jamaican Black Castor Oil has been a hair care staple for many reasons. It’s extremely moisturizing, conditions and strengthens the hair and it increases hair growth. It’s pretty much a miracle oil!
I bought the Jamaican Mango & Lime Jamaican Black Castor Oil many months ago and I’ve used it pretty much everyday since. In fact, I’ve already finished this bottle and went back to grab another. My relaxed hair is very thick and very dry so I’m always on the lookout for products that make my life a little easier and this is it. Since I’m always pretty busy and too tired (lazy) to really do anything to my hair I live in a high bun. Which is great for protecting my ends and retaining length but not so much for the edges over time if I’m not careful. However, I apply a little water and a dime sized amount of Jamaican Black Castor Oil to my edges everyday to keep them nice and healthy and prevent them from thinning out.
Wake up and makeup, doll! I know you’re probably still wiping the crust from your eyes after a killer Friday night but I have some good news for ya! Urban Decay is currently hosting a flash Friends & Fanatics event where UD junkies can save 20% off online today and tomorrow. So far, I don’t see any exclusions so it looks like you can use this code on whatever your heart desires and as many times as you’d like. The Naked Smokey palette hasn’t launched yet but here’s a few products to check out during the sale:
