Do You Have Any Dupes in Your Stash?

Sedona Lace FB 05 Dome Contour MAC 109 Small Contour Brush

When I first got into makeup, I was just buying and trying some of everything. I didn’t really have any direction or a sense of what I liked yet. Now that I’ve got the hang of things I noticed I tend to buy similar products now. Lots of golden highlights. Pink lipsticks. And occasionally brushes too.

Years ago, I ordered the Sedona Lace Vortex Brush Set and fell in love with Dome Contour Brush. It’s a small, round dense fluffy cheek brush that’s great for contouring, highlighting and applying blush. Basically it’s the perfect cheek brush for my small face.

Maybe a year after using my Sedona Lace Vortex Brush Set I picked up the MAC 109 Small Contour Brush. I knew it was similar to my Sedona Lace Dome Contour Brush but I figured the quality would be a little better since it’s MAC and twice the price.

Not quite. The quality is pretty much the same. Honestly, some days I can’t even tell them apart. Unless I’m looking really close at the brush head. The Sedona Lace Dome Contour Brush is slightly more dense and a little wider than the MAC 109 Small Contour Brush. But other than some minor differences they’re nearly identical. Except the Sedona Lace Dome Contour Brush is much lighter on your pockets. It’s regularly $17 but it’s currently on sale for $14. Even at full price, it’s considerably cheaper than the MAC version which will set you back $35. You can literally get 2 Dome Contour Brushes for the price of one Small Contour Brush! Needless to say, when it comes time to buy another one (because I can never have too many) I’ll be sticking with Sedona Lace.

I’m such a makeup junkie, but can you believe I don’t own 1 MAC brush? I might be the only person. I just don’t know where to start with MAC brushes, there’s so many they make my head spin. I’ve been using Eco Tools, Real Simple, Elf and they seem to work fine, but I will buy some MAC ones someday. My most expensive brushes are the IT ones. So I probably have a dupe somewhere in my stash, just don’t know it!

LOL really? I figured you’d have a nice set by now lol. You’re not missing much though. It took me years to finally build up my MAC brush collection and I can honestly say there’s cheaper brushes that perform just as well. Surprisingly I’ve never tried any Eco Tools brushes or IT Cosmetics brushes despite hearing a lot of good things about them. Guess I’ll have to give them a go soon

Oh wow, that’s really good to know before I splurge on any MAC brushes. I might just pick up a couple of their shadow brushes (to get it off my bucket list), and stick to my drugstore ones. More money saved for makeup!

Yup! I have some Sonia Kashuk and Elf brushes I reach for more than my MAC ones. Real Techniques are really good too
