Summer officially kicks off tomorrow and what better way to celebrate than with a bold coral lip? Like Maybelline’s Craving Coral Color Sensational Matte Lipstick, for instance. This baby was released last fall but somehow it’s managed to get buried in my stash. That is, until I decided to dig it up to get ready for some hot summer days.
Craving Coral is a bold, bright blood orange with a warm red undertone and a powdery floral scent. Again, I could certainly live without Maybelline’s choice of fragrance but I happen to love Craving Coral. It reminds me a lot of MAC Mangrove Lipstick which I was quite addicted to last summer. Now, I’m slowly getting addicted to Craving Coral because this lipstick is a beauty! It seriously pops against brown skin and it looks lovely on lighter complexions, too.
And Maybelline really nailed the formula. My dry lips usually struggle with shades like this but Craving Coral is quite easy to wear. It glides across the lips with a lighweight smooth, creamy texture and intense pigmentation. The color lightly clings to the lips without putting my imperfections on display–which is a huge plus. Corals usually settle into my lip lines terribly and emphasize flakes but Craving Coral cuts me a little bit of slack. I still prefer to exfoliate beforehand (since it’s a matte) but it doesn’t really put my dry spots on display and the settling is very slight and not very noticeable from a distance. A big improvement from Mangrove and Lady Danger. Sorry MAC!
For a matte lipstick, Craving Coral is quite comfortable to wear and lasts for around 4-5 hours before fading into an intense stain. If you haven’t tried any of the Maybelline Color Sensational Matte Lipsticks I suggest giving Craving Coral a try and checking out the new shades that were released this summer. They’re pretty darn good!
