Slip into the MAC Le Disko for Less

If you’ve never had the balls to sneak into a party now is the perfect time to grow some because we’re crashing the MAC Le Disko, baby! MAC recently launched a limited edition collection of dazzling eyeshadows, liners and lip glosses that are definitely the life of the party. Sounds like fun, right?

That is, until you realize tickets to Le Disko start at $20. And you know how fun glitter and gloss can be. Next thing you know, we’ll be at Le Disko every damn week trying to get our groove and glitter on. Which sounds really enticing until those Andrew Jackson’s start adding up. So what do we do?

Link up with our good ol’ friend who knows how to save a buck. That’s what!

He insisted we sneak in through the backdoor with the CoverGirl Lip Lava Glosses. Not a bad idea! The CoverGirl Lip Lava formula is actually a great alternative to the pricier MAC Dazzleglass. For starters, they both sprinkle on the glitter whenever you’ve come down with boogie fever. And the textures are very similar too. Both sport a slightly thick, tacky texture with the Lip Lavas feeling a little more lightweight and slightly less tacky. The major difference between the formulas is the base. MAC goes for a more sheer base with glitter while CoverGirl gives you full on color plus glitter for a more opaque, metallic finish.

So they’re not exactly dupes but the CoverGirl Lip Lava formula isn’t all that different from the MAC Dazzleglass formula. In fact, I recommend them over the Dazzleglasses because the Lip Lavas last longer, they’re more pigmented and, obviously, they’re cheaper. They’re a win all the way around. ‘Cause trust me when I say no one at Le Disko is gonna notice the difference!

I actually prefer the Covergirl ones. They seem to be more pigmented.

    1. Me too! They’re much more pigmented and they last a bit longer too. More bang for your buck!

  2. CG’s look like better quality to me, tbh. Have you bought any of the eyeshadows from this disko line?? They’re something I’m really, really tempted to splurge on, but I’d want to see what you say first.

    1. Honestly they are for the price. I haven’t yet. I’m tempted to try them though so I may order one this weekend. I just hope they’re nothing like the pressed pigments. Those shadows are beautiful but so difficult to work with

Oh no =( And pressed pigments are normally fairly easy! Can’t wait to see what you think of them if you do order, though. I hope this collection lasts for awhile, I’m going to try to hold back on buying makeup this July.

        1. I have a feeling this collection will stick around for a bit since everyone is in a matte phase right now. Surprisingly, I haven’t seen too many pictures or people talking about it so far

That Covergirl Lip Lava in Lavender is calling my name……if I can find it, I will be grabbing it

    1. I hope you find it! It has your name all over it!

Oh, I just snagged Lava-nder, and I love it!!! The color and shimmer is gorgeous. It is tacky, like you mentioned, but I just dot on some lip balm.
