Rock Matte Lips for Less with the New Wet n Wild Velvet Matte Lip Colors
Since Wet n Wild knocked it out of the park with ever so amazing Hollywood Boulevard Shimmer Palette I’ve decided to try more new goodies from the Fergie Centerstage Collection. Earlier this year, she released a brand new line of Velvet Matte Lip Colors that were a little hard to find but can be spotted at pretty much every Walgreens now.
There’s 9 shades in the range and I picked up 5 of them including:
- The Stand Out pale cool lavender
- Timeless Chick warm rosy pink
- Pinky Candy soft neutral pink
- Fashion Darling warm reddish brown
- DJ Doll vibrant mandarin orange
They’re retractable pencils with a creamy matte finish that seem pretty convenient and easy to use. However there seems to be a lot of mixed reviews on the formula and packaging though–and I can already see why. With all of the new matte releases, we’re expecting better quality and these babies have a couple slip ups.
I haven’t tried them on just yet so I’m trying my very best to reserve judgement but the Velvet Matte Lip Colors seem under baked. When I think of matte lips, I think of bold, intense color. Pure pigmentation. These are surprisingly sheer for matte lipsticks. With just a single swipe, I could still see plenty of my skin tone peeking through. Thankfully, the formula seems to be buildable so I’m hoping I’ll end up liking them anyway. Fingers crossed!

Hmm, these look disappointing compares to all of the other matte lipsticks/crayons out there, and those last 2 shades are nowhere near matte. But if you like a softer or more sheer lip, this might work
