Shake those Monday blues, girl! I’ve got something a little different for you today but I think you may like it. Not too long ago I told you about some handbags I purchased on sale at Aldo and it seems that a few of you have been tip toeing over to the site to check them out too. I couldn’t do anything but smile and think, “These women are really shopaholics too!” LOL!
Since you guys seemed to be curious about my new bags I’ve decided to give you the scoop–starting with the Newhook bag I spotted in the mall. I’ve never paid much attention to Aldo’s handbags until I saw one of my friends carrying the cutest satchel one night. Since then, I’ve made it my duty to never pass up an Aldo. This mantra proved to pay off because I ended up walking right into this cute medium sized tote one day for $30. Score!
The first time I saw it, I told myself, “Nope. Don’t do it. You don’t need it. You said you wanted a pink bag.” Logic clearly escaped me the second visit because I couldn’t get the poor sales associate to grab me a new one from the back quick enough. All of a sudden it was like: Girl, GIVE. ME. THAT. BAG. I needed it. Not just because it was cute. But ’cause it was cute, functional and on sale. Can’t beat that!
The Newhook bag comes in 2 colors: black and a creamy off white, Snowy. It features a buttery faux leather design with metallic gold plated accents on the front and a detachable adjustable strap. Here’s the measurements:
- Width: 13 in
- Depth: 6 in
- Height: 9.9 in
I’m a sucker for dressing up my bags so I added an adorably cute pink and white crystal cherry keychain from Aldo along with a pink Juicy couture metallic faux leather dog keychain to the handle for a little flair. Not that it really needs it because the gold accents are stunning enough on their own. Plus, I feel like they add an air of luxury that makes Newhook look as if it came from a high end department store.
Besides its luxury looks, what I love most about this bag is that it’s incredibly spacious with lots of pockets. To the eye, it looks rather small but I can fit a surprising amount of stuff in here! If I crack open the front zipper pouch, I can slip my phone and sunglasses inside. Then, I can slip the stray papers and receipts I’m always randomly carrying around in one of the two long, slim pockets on the outer interior of the bag. Once I get past the rather sturdy magnetic closure, I can stuff pretty much all of my everyday essentials and then some inside.
All of that stuff can get a little heavy though which is where the trusty adjustable strap comes in. I’ve loaded up this bag up to the point it was overflowing and the sturdy adjustable strap just took it all. When I went to Chicago, I tossed in:
- Intro to Bobbi Workbook
- Macbook Air Laptop
- Samsung Galaxy Note 4
- Ipad Mini
- Business Card Holder
- Laptop, cellphone and iPad charger
- Tons of makeup
I was able to fit pretty much everything I needed right inside this seemingly small, cute bag. The most impressive part though was how well the Newhook bag seemed to hold up. Despite being packed to capacity, the bag still held its shape and didn’t show any signs of wear at all. Rather impressive, Aldo!
It’s one thing to catch a bag on sale but it’s more like an investment when it’s on sale and it’s great quality. I couldn’t be happier! The Newhook was my very first Aldo bag and if you’re new to Aldo’s handbags I think it would be a great start for you too. You can still order it online for $30 here. If you’ve never shopped online at Aldo, you can sign up for their email newsletter for a 15% off coupon for your next order or store visit. Happy hauling!
