When I think of Estee Lauder, I think of sweet old ladies in a strong spicy, floral perfume with their lips and cheeks covered in rouge ready to pinch your cheeks at any given second. Not bold mattes and liquid lipsticks. Estee Lauder has always given off a more classic, mature vibe better suited for those spunky older gals who like to power-walk laps around the mall before it even opens. Not anymore!
Today, Estee Lauder is shaking things up new formulas and bold shades that your grandma wouldn’t dare touch. And I like it! I respect Estee for sticking to her classic guns for all these years but every now and then it’s time to shake things up a bit.
Just in time for fall, Estee Lauder has whipped a brand spanking new line of Pure Color Envy Matte Sculpting Lipsticks which she describes as:
Creamy, matte and intense, this lipstick emphasizes the shape of your lips with saturated matte color. The lightweight, ultra-creamy formula glides on seamlessly, coating lips evenly while leaving a soft and smooth finish.
I picked up 2 shades: Shameless Violet, a rich aubergine, and Extrovert, a blackened plum. I came across them in Sephora one evening and just couldn’t leave the store without them because they were such unique shades for Estee Lauder–and believe it or not, I’ve never tried any of her lippies yet. I was pleased with how smooth and creamy they felt during swatching so I have high hopes for these babies.
Now that liquid lipsticks are all the rage it was only a matter of time before the vets on the block decided to step into the game. Estee Lauder recently released a new line of Pure Color Envy Liquid Lip Potions that she describes as:
This innovative liquid lipstick hybrid plumps with continuous moisture. Saturates with high-intensity color, without sticky shine. Lips look pouty, sculpted, sexy. Creamy, moisture-rich formula glides on in one effortless swipe of bold liquid color. Goes on wet. Comes on strong. Lasts up to 8 hours. Oil elixir-infused formula is infused with avocado, jojoba and sunflower oils, creating a luxuriously comfortable, satin-matte finish.
I wanted a few shades but I settled on just one: Bittersweet, nude brown, a limited edition shade. I’ve been drawn to nude lips lately and Bittersweet looks like a great everyday shade for WOC so I was all over it! Not to mention, the formula seemed pretty creamy during swatching so I was curious to see how it would compare to some of my favorite liquid lipstick formulas. I can’t wait to test these babies out!
