NARS Despair Cheek Palette Swatches

NARS Fantascene Despair Cheek Palette

A lot of brands went all out with their holiday collections this year but I think NARS took the cake. The makeup genius teamed up with the high-profile fashion photographer, Steven Klein, to create a limited edition collection filled with beautiful sets, palettes and more. There were a lot of tempting pieces (I mean a lot) but I really had my eye on the Despair Cheek Palette.

Every year, NARS comes out with a cheek palette that looks beautiful but turns out to be oh so disappointing because it includes tired ass Orgasm Blush and Laguna Bronzer. Sorry NARS but nobody is checking for Orgasm and Laguna anymore. To see them in every cheek palette was a huge turn off for me no matter how pretty the rest of the palette was.

Imagine the joy I felt when NARS finally whipped up a cheek palette without Orgasm or Laguna. There’s not even a Super Orgasm in here. Yaaaaaaaas NARS! I don’t have anything against Orgasm or Laguna I just think they’re overrated and NARS has a ton more beautiful blushes and bronzers that need love too. It appears NARS agrees with me because the Despair Cheek Palette showcases 3 new limited edition blushes along with a permanent Highlighting Blush including:

  • Nico Highlighting Blush pale champagne
  • Savage Blush peachy coral
  • Esoteric Blush soft shimmering orange
  • Ferocious Blush soft plum

All of the blushes had a very soft, buttery texture that feels very similar to my full sized blushes. They’re all pretty pigmented too and seem to work very well for brown skin. I’m a little worried about Nico though. I think it may be a little too pale for me but I’m learning not to judge a product but its swatch so who knows. I might end up loving it.

Did you grab anything from the NARS x Steven Klein holiday collection?

Hm… maybe Nico could work as a super sheer highlighter, like an almost ethereal glow? Still, I’m sensing Ferocious is going to be your game for awhile. ;P

    1. Hmm….maybe it could. I’m gonna try not to write it off before I actually try it lol. You know me so well though! Ferocious is hands down my favorite of the bunch and the first shade I reached for when I cracked this baby open lol. It’s just so perfect!
