Urban Decay Matte Bittersweet Matte Revolution Lipstick Review

Urban Decay Matte Bittersweet Matte Revolution Lipstick

Urban Decay is typically known for their buttery, pigmented eyeshadows but they really excel at lipsticks too! It seems that Urban Decay’s Revolution Lipsticks are a bit underrated in the makeup world. Though I’m not too sure why because both the original and matte formulas are bomb and I’ve loved every shade I’ve tried so far. Including one of the newest shades in my collection, Matte Bittersweet.

Matte Bittersweet appears in the tube as a bright violet purple but when applied it leans more of a bright purple magenta on me. Which is still all good because I’m absolutely obsessed with the color. Matte Bittersweet is bright, fun and commands attention the moment I walk in a room. I recently wore it to Ulta during our Gwen Stefani Collection mini event and it pretty much stole the show with someone asking every 2 minutes, “Omg what lipstick are you wearing?!”

The beautiful color isn’t the best part though. It’s the formula that really impresses me. Most matte lipsticks have a tendency to suck the moisture out of lips while settling into every lip line and fading into a patchy, dry mess. Not the Matte Revolution formula! Urban Decay absolutely nails it with Matte Bittersweet as it’s totally different from your typical matte lipstick. Matte Bittersweet applies like a dream with full coverage in a single swipe and a creamy formula that lightly hugs the lips without feeling clingy or uncomfortable. There’s a slight sheen upon application but within a few minutes Matte Bittersweet sets to a matte finish that’s comfortable to wear and doesn’t emphasize every flake and line on my lips. Which is very impressive for such a bright color.

Matte Bittersweet wears like a champ for around 5-6 hours before it starts to fade into a vivid bright purple-pink stain that hangs on for another 2-3 hours. I can easily get through an entire work day without touchups with Matte Bittersweet. I simply add a little Bittersweet gloss or lip balm on top of the stain to get me through the night and it works like a charm. If you’ve yet to try an Urban Decay Matte Revolution Lipstick you’re seriously missing out! I recommend running to your local Ulta or Sephora to give Matte Bittersweet a try. Try not to fall too much in love!
