It’s barely spring yet and ColourPop is already gunning for budget beauty brand of the year! Every time I turn around, ColourPop is announcing a new collection, collaboration or product release that turns out to be innovative, edgy and great quality every single time. And they do it all for under $10. You can’t beat that! Neither can you resist it when everything is super cheap and there’s always a hot new release around the corner.
One of the latest ColourPop creations is the new Ultra Satin Lipsticks. The Ultra Matte Lipsticks were such a huge hit that they quickly became a cult favorite among liquid lipstick junkies (like me) but not everyone was in love with them. Some people found them just too drying to wear regularly so ColourPop came up with a clever solution to whip up some Ultra Satin Lipsticks that’ll be just as pigmented and long lasting as the Ultra Matte Lipsticks without sucking all of the moisture out of lips. Here’s the full scoop from ColourPop:
Our Ultra Satin Lip is a lightweight, bold lipstick with a Satin finish. A super comfortable feel and healthy satin look for your lips. Ultra Satin Lip has a crazy high percentage of pigmented for extra intense colour saturation. This lipstick is extremely long wearing, although not completely kiss proof–you may leave some marks on your coffee cup!
The Ultra Matte Lipsticks will always hold a special place in my heart but sometimes my dry lips need a break from mattes so I was more than happy to indulge in a few of the new Ultra Satin Lipsticks. I ordered the shades:
- Petit Four deep charcoal grey
- Prim dark blackened red
- Panda deep pink violet
- TooLips deepened plum brown
- Tansy medium-toned yellow brown
I ended up trying on Panda the same night I received my order and I have to say that I’m really digging the formula so far. It’s much easier on the lips and doesn’t feel drying at all. As ColourPop claims, the formula isn’t nearly as budge-proof as the Ultra Matte Lipsticks. Panda did seem to transfer as I ate and drank throughout the evening but the formula is so pigmented that I still had plenty of color left on my lips. I’m still in the process of putting these babies to the test so I can’t speak too much on the wear just yet but I have a feeling that I’m going to like them just as much, if not more, than my beloved Ultra Matte Lipsticks. You have to try them!
