Milani Prime Perfection Hydrating + Pore Minimizing Face Primer Review

Milani Prime Perfection Hydrating + Pore Minimizing Face Primer

Finding a good foundation and concealer is important if you like a flawlessly beat face but so is finding a solid primer. Since I’ve been working in the beauty industry, I’ve learned that most women don’t understand the importance of using primer. From Bobbi Brown to Ulta, I hear a lot of complaints like, “My foundation just doesn’t last throughout the day without sliding off.” Or, “My skin is so dry that every foundation looks cakey and emphasizes my dryness.” Either way, my response is almost always, “Are you using a primer?” About 95% of the time the answer is no and to me that’s insane. Primer is super important guys!

A good primer not only helps to lock your foundation in place but it also helps address certain skin concerns like controlling oil, smoothing out flaky, dry skin and more. I used to think that primer wasn’t necessary when I first started wearing makeup but now I can’t live without it. I’ve sorta become a primer junkie because I’m addicted to the way they lend such a huge helping hand in applying my foundation and making it look flawless all day.

Milani Prime Perfection Hydrating + Pore Minimizing Face Primer

One of the newest primers to my collection is Milani’s Prime Perfection Hydrating + Pore Minimizing Face Primer. It’s a new formula for spring that designed to maintain skin’s moisture balance and boost radiance while softening the appearance of fine lines and pores. I’ve been using the Prime Perfection Hydrating + Pore Minimizing Face Primer for weeks now and I kinda like it. It has a thick creamy texture that absorbs pretty quickly and lightly moisturizes my dry skin while minimizing my fine lines and adding a really nice glow. I can’t say whether it really minimizes pores or not because, ironically, dry skin doesn’t necessarily have problems with large pores. However, I still think it’s nice that Milani tossed that in there for ladies and gents with combination skin.

I’ve always had great success with Milani products so I came into the Prime Perfection Hydrating + Pore Minimizing Face Primer with high hopes. I was expecting something similar to Urban Decay’s amazing Brightening & Tightening Complexion Primer Potion but I had to remember that the Prime Perfection Hydrating + Pore Minimizing Face Primer is a fraction of the price ($10 vs $30) and isn’t formulated with all those fancy skin-loving ingredients so it was a little unfair and unrealistic to compare the two. Once I realized that the Prime Perfection Hydrating + Pore Minimizing Face Primer was strictly for solid makeup wear and a smooth base I started to fall for it.

The Prime Perfection Hydrating + Pore Minimizing Face Primer isn’t quite as hydrating as I expected but it is lightly moisturizing and does soften the look of my fine lines helping my foundation apply and blend better as well as keeping it from sinking into my smile lines. It also makes my dry skin glow like no tomorrow without looking or feeling greasy so it makes a great illuminating base for drier foundation formulas or just adding a dewy spring glow to any look. The Prime Perfection Hydrating + Pore Minimizing Face Primer also helps my foundation stay put during my long work days when I’m running around the store breaking a sweat so I’d say that Milani lived up to their claims with this one.

If you’re looking for a super hydrating primer that’s going to replace your moisturizer or improve your skin over time then you’ll probably end up disappointed. However, if you’re in the market for an affordable primer that softens and blurs imperfections, adds a nice radiance and offers some light moisture then you’ll find the Milani Prime Perfection Hydrating + Pore Minimizing Face Primer more than worth the $10. It’s not too shabby!
