Ricky’s NYC Haul & Swatches

Ricky's NYC Haul

For years, makeup junkies have been shopping at Ricky’s NYC to get their hands on a ton of different beauty brands that are often hard to find. Living in Michigan has shielded me from the beauty of Ricky’s NYC until Nouveau Cheap posted about an amazing deal for Ricky’s NYC via Gilt City a few months ago. Gilt City had in store and online store credits for over 20% off so I went ahead and purchased a $100 credit for under $45 because it just seemed like the right thing to do. $43 for $100 worth of beauty products? That’s a hell of a deal! So I jumped right on it and decided to finally order some of the popular liquid lipsticks that everyone loves to rave about all over Instagram.

LA Splash Untamed Lip Couture Waterproof Liquid Lipstick, Tiramisu Velvet Matte Liquid Lipstick, Fantasy Velvet Matte Liquid Lipstick, Malevolent Lip Couture Waterproof Liquid Lipstick

The first brand I noticed on Ricky’s NYC was LA Splash. LA Splash’s liquid lipsticks have been quite popular for years with a lot of positive reviews so I figured now would be the perfect time to try them out. There were a ton of different colors and formulas to choose from but I ended up settling on:

  • Untamed Lip Couture Waterproof Liquid Lipstick
  • Fantasy Velvet Matte Liquid Lipstick
  • Tiramisu Velvet Matte Liquid Lipstick
  • Malevolent Lip Couture Waterproof Liquid Lipstick

I’ve heard a lot of great things about the staying power of the Lip Couture line so I was curious to see if they really lasted as long as my favorite beauty junkies claimed. I’ve only swatched them so far but I definitely think they’re a force to be reckoned with. Even with a micellar water and cleansing oil, the Lip Couture Waterproof Liquid Lipsticks would not completely come off. I actually had to use a little of ELF’s Kiss It Goodbye Lip Color Remover to completely remove them from my arm. Those are some serious liquid lipsticks! The Velvet Matte Liquid Lipsticks seemed a little less intense with a thicker, mousse texture that’s probably going to be a little easier on the lips than the Lip Coutures. I look forward to finally trying them on to see how I like them for myself now that I finally got my hands on them.

Coloured Raine 2 AM + Berri Raine Matte Lip Paint

Coloured Raine was next up on my list because their Matte Lip Paints are also highly praised on Instagram by a lot of makeup junkies. There was a nice variety of colors but some of the nudes that I’ve been eyeing weren’t available so I settled on some bolder shades including 2 AM and Berri Raine. I’m a sucker for a pretty purple lip so Berri Raine was a must have but I also love a good black lip because it’s fun and edgy. Both shades seem to apply well and the formula seems to be pretty nice too so I think I’m going to like the Coloured Raine Matte Lip Paints too. I’m wearing Berri Raine at the moment and it reminds me a bit of the Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks so I have high hopes for the formula.

Violet Voss Haze Liquid Lipstick

Violet Voss is a newer brand compared to LA Splash and Coloured Raine but their products have managed to rack up an insane cult following on social media. I ended up adding Haze Liquid Lipstick to my cart after coming across one too many pretty swatches. I have a thing for grey toned lipsticks right now and Haze fits the bill nicely without looking similar to all of my other grey toned purples. The formula also seems pretty decent as well. The texture is really lightweight and it feels pretty good on the lips. It was the first lipstick I slipped on when I received my order so I haven’t been wearing it long but I think the formula is really nice so far. I plan on putting it to the test at work tomorrow so I can see how it really holds up.

OPI Hello Kitty Super Cute in Pink + My Twin Mimmy

Even though I picked up a considerable amount of the limited OPI Hello Kitty Collection at Ulta I still couldn’t resist grabbing just 2 more shades from Ricky’s NYC. For some odd reason, my local Ulta never received the full collection so I went ahead and ordered the last 2 shades I wanted from the collection. It was only right! I ended up grabbing Super Cute in Pink, a magenta pink, and My Twin Mimmy, a sunny yellow. I’ve been eyeing Super Cute in Pink since the collection was released and I was so excited to get my hands on it that I had it applied for my next manicure. It’s so cute!! It’s a soft gel pink with a hint of pink that’s super easy to wear and incredibly girly. I also had to have My Twin Mimmy because I love bright yellow nails in the spring and summer because yellow is such a fun, playful and flirty color. My Twin Mimmy is super bright but I’m definitely looking forward to seeing looking as bright as sunshine on my nails.
