Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Cream Kit Review

Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Cream Kit

Highlighting and contouring is well past being a trend now. It’s pretty much a way of life for many makeup junkies. Myself included. Mastering the technique isn’t easy but once you’ve got it down to a science it’s hard not to highlight and contour for the makeup gods every time you do a full face. Is it a lot of work (and blending)? Yes. Is it worth it? Yes! There’s nothing like a chiseled, define beat with cheekbones sharp enough to kill and a hot highlight that balances everything out. That’s why I’ve been addicted to the Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Cream Kit. I’ve been playing around with it for a couple of weeks now and I honestly can’t believe that I went so long without having it in my collection. The Contour Cream Kit makes highlighting and contouring so easy!

I’ve gotten used to whipping out my NARS and Urban Decay concealers to highlight and then reaching for my Black Radiance concealer to contour. Which isn’t much at all but can sometimes be inconvenient when I’m in a rush or simply feeling a little too lazy to reach for 2 different products. First world problems, right? The Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Cream Kit has definitely made my life that much simpler by including everything I need in one convenient palette with plenty of product. I opted for the one in Medium which features 4 medium to deep concealers, a pale yellow highlighter, and a peachy orange color corrector including:

  • Cream golden wheat
  • Banana pale yellow
  • Java mocha
  • Warm Coral orange pink
  • Cinnamon reddish brown
  • Chocolate coconut shell
  • Ash Brown cool medium brown

Seeing all of those color together can be a bit intimidating at first but once you use the Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Cream Kit you’ll see that it’s very easy to use to customize your perfect highlight and contour all year round. I think that’s perhaps the biggest advantage of the Contour Cream Kit. We often have to switch up our foundation in the winter and summer but the handful of concealers in the Contour Cream Kit makes it simple for you use one palette to highlight and contour whether you’re darker or lighter than usual. The mixing does take a little more effort than just pulling out my trusty concealer and contour stick but I love that I can customize my highlight and contour to fit my needs for the day. If I’m feeling more natural, I can simply mix in a little more Cinnamon for a natural highlight and a bit of Chocolate for soft definition. If I want to go full on glam, I can add a little Banana (pale yellow) to amp up my highlight and then add a dash of Ash Brown to create a killer contour. The possibilities are endless!

The Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Cream Kit isn’t just convenient though. The formula is actually pretty good too. The formula is a bit thick but it’s very creamy with buildable medium to full coverage. I was a little worried about the thicker texture emphasizing my dry under eyes and creasing but the Contour Cream Kit isn’t too shabby. The concealers don’t seem to make my thirsty eyes look dry but it does settle a little bit. It’s nothing my It Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Powder can’t fix though. However, I do think that the thick texture makes me use a bit more product than necessary so I like to thin out the highlighting shades with a drop of oil like Boscia Tsubaki Oil or Tarte Maracuja Oil. A little oil makes the Contour Cream Kit feel a lot smoother, thinner and blend much easier. When it comes to the contour shades, I like to skip the oil because they apply, blend and wear just fine on my dry skin–even without being set. The thicker texture definitely works as an advantage to Chocolate and Ash Brown as they blend easily without sliding around or looking too creamy.

Both the highlight and contour creams wear pretty well though lasting for over 8 hours on my dry skin before the concealer starts to fade and crease through a bit. My contour seems to fair a little better lasting for around 9-10 hours before showing some slight signs of fading. Overall, I think the Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Cream Kit is a winner for gals with normal to dry skin. I think the thicker texture may be a little bit too much for oily skin but for normal to dry skin the Contour Cream Kit works like a charm for a natural or more pronounced highlight and contour that keeps on holding on all day. I definitely recommend it!
