If I had to pick a favorite budget beauty brand for the year I would have to go with ColourPop, hands down. ColourPop has only been around for two years now yet they’ve already expanded their brand to include shadows, highlighters, lipsticks and more. Plus, just about everything ColourPop creates is amazing quality that won’t set you back more than $8 a pop. Now that’s what I call a win! Besides their great quality, my favorite thing about ColourPop is how they’re always creating new, innovative products that are fun, exciting and too tempting to resist. Their latest creation is the new line of Matte X Lippie Stix. They’re an ultra matte extension to the Lippie Stix lineup that features a shine free finish that’s a bit easier on the lips than the Ultra Satin Lipsticks.
Of course, when the Matte X Lippie Stix released, ColourPop fanatics went crazy and snapped up most of the shades leaving them sold out within the first day. Now that the madness has cooled a little bit, ColourPop has restocked the Matte X Lippie Stix and I was able to get my hands on a few of them including:
- Tickler vibrant neon pink
- Boa pastel pinky lilac
- Back Up mid-tone plum
- Pillow Talk mid-tone greige
I’ve tried a couple of the regular matte Lippie Stix and I definitely notice a difference in application and wear time with the new Matte X Lippie Stix. The Matte X formula is slightly drier than the regular matte formula with no shine at all and they seem to last a little longer since the formula is a bit more dense and hugs the lips more. ColourPop’s Matte X formula actually reminds me a lot of MAC’s Retro Matte lipsticks as they both have a very flat matte finish and great staying power. The major difference seems to be that ColourPop’s Matte X Lippie Stix glide on more smoothly and have a slightly creamier texture making them a lot easier to apply than MAC’s Retro Mattes. If you’re a fan of the MAC Retro Matte Lipsticks or have been dying to try one I think you’re going to love the new ColourPop Matte X Lippie Stix!
Have you tried any of the ColourPop Matte X Lippie Stix?
