Years ago, I used to be obsessed with MAC. I had to have a piece (or two or three) from every limited edition collection because MAC was the best of the best with the most beautiful lipsticks, eyeshadows and compacts I’d ever seen. Then I grew up. After years of racing to the MAC site and counter to get my hands on the latest shiny new collection I soon grew tired of the rat race. Makeup is supposed to be fun not stressful! It appears that MAC is beginning to learn their lesson with super limited edition collections because now they’re much easier to shop with plenty of product to go around for everybody. Finally!
Weeks ago, MAC released the Vibe Tribe Collection inspired by summer festivals like the iconic Coachella with special packaging with native product designs. I really wish MAC would have teamed up with a Native American designer because the Vibe Tribe Collection is teeming with Native American inspired names and tribal designs. MAC definitely dropped the ball with making Vibe Tribe seem authentic (and not offensive) but the actual products turned out to be a great selection. Especially the cheek products!
When the Vibe Tribe Collection went live, my Instagram feed was filled with the most beautiful pictures of the Dunes at Dusk Gleamtones Powder. The Dunes at Dusk Gleamtones Powder features 4 shimmering shades of peachy orange, champagne, mauve bronze and a pale lilac pink. Each shade has just enough room to be used individually (with a small brush, of course) or swirled together to create a beautiful rose gold highlight. Or even as a shimmering eyeshadow palette to help brighten eyes and make them sparkle. Dunes at Dusk Gleamtones Powder is a very versatile compact that isn’t just pretty to look at but also beautiful on the skin–on everyone. I’m very surprised that Dunes at Dusk is still available online at MAC because it’s a very nice highlighter with a soft, velvety texture that would make a great addition to any makeup lovers collection this summer.
Dunes at Dusk wasn’t the only stunning cheek product MAC whipped up for the Vibe Tribe Collection. There were also a nice round of blushes that were also incredibly gorgeous. My top pick was Adobe Brick, a warm cinnamon red with a hint of orange. It’s the perfect shade for brown skin because it has just the right amount of color to brighten cheeks while still looking very soft and natural. Adobe Brick looks like the sun descended from the sky to kiss my cheeks and I absolutely love it! It gives me such a beautiful warm flush of color that’s so easy to wear. I have a feeling Adobe Brick is going to be one of my go to blushes this summer!
MAC also released the Future MAC collection back in spring but they managed to make more than enough products for everybody so I was still able to get my hands on the Otherearthly Mineralize Skinfinish powder months later. I’ve had my eye on Otherearthly for weeks now as it’s the most unique Mineralize Skinfinish MAC has created yet. It features 3 shimmering powders in one including a warm gold, peachy pink and metallic silver that can be used alone as individual highlighters or swirled all together for a customizable glow. While I loved the design, I was a little nervous about how I would like Otherearthly because of the cool silver but the result when I swirl each shade together is absolutely beautiful. Otherearthly blends together to create a soft, neutral pink glow that really seems to pop against my brown skin without looking pale or ashy. Like Dunes at Dusk, it’s hard to believer Otherearthly is still in stock because it’s really nice quality and the glow is superb. I couldn’t be happier that I was able to get my hands on it!
