There’s a lot of things that can easily put a smile on my face and pink lipstick is pretty high up on the list. I can be in a really funky mood and then pull out one of my favorite pink lipsticks or buy a brand new one…..and bam! My mood is instantly lifted as if nothing ever happened. It’s one of the many reasons I love makeup. A little lipstick just makes me happy as a kid opening a box of crayons for the first time. That’s why I often to try to pull out a good pink lipstick every Wednesday to get me through those mid-week blues and carry me happily into the weekend.
I ended up digging a little deep through my stash today and I came across one of my old favorite layering lipsticks: the Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Pur Couture 26 Rose Libertin Lipstick. Sheesh, that’s a mouthful! Thankfully, the color is a lot easier to roll with because it’s a cute sheer Barbie pink that light and deep skin tones can pull off. Of course, application and layering is key because Barbie pink lips isn’t the most effortless thing in the world. Rose Libertin is a soft baby pink with a cool blue undertone and teeny tiny bit of purple that gives it a slight lilac pearl. It has a creamy satin finish that adds a touch of sheen without being too glossy or frosty.
Rose Libertin is a beautiful lipstick but everyone can’t just slap it on and go. Especially not my dark skin divas. Regardless of your skin tone, you’ll want to exfoliate to keep this vibrant pink from spotlighting your flakes and dry spots for a smooth, creamy application. However, my brown skin ladies will definitely prefer to layer Rose Libertin with a lip liner or a lip gloss. Sometimes I like to pair Rose Libertin with my Yves Saint Laurent Gloss Volupte Terriblement Fuchsia to create a hot fuchsia pink lip that’s flirty and juicy. Other times, I like to pair Rose Libertin with a lip liner to give a little more edge and make it pop. Today, I paired it with Urban Decay’s Anarchy 24/7 Glide On Lip Pencil, a bright fuchsia pink, to give me that fun, girly Barbie pink lip that meshes well with my skin tone. I simply lined my lips with Anarchy, swiped Rose Libertin over it and let them both work their magic. The end result was absolutely beautiful and probably my new favorite Pink Wednesday combination! Whether you’re fair as snow or deep and chocolatey, the Yves Saint Laurent 26 Rose Libertin is a gorgeous pink lipstick that’ll certainly lift your mood if you love to layer and mix lipsticks. You definitely need it if you love pink!
