It seems that every year we get hit with a ton of neutral eyeshadow palette releases. From warm to cool, we see the same mix of browns and golds with the occasional blues and greens tossed in too. No matter how enticing all those neutral palettes may be at first I can’t deny that it starts to get old after a while. I’m definitely guilty of buying more palettes than I need but even I like to shake it up sometimes and try something a little different.
That’s why I saw it perfectly fitting to finally go ahead and order the Juvia’s Place Mini Masquerade Palette. Juvia’s Place is a black owned brand that makes some of the most amazing eyeshadow palettes you’ll ever come across. There’s 3 palettes in the collection (so far) and they all contain a mix of neutrals with some fun eye popping colors too like bold pinks and purples. I’ve been eyeing the Masquerade Palette for months now after seeing so many beautiful pics and swatches on social media so I pulled the trigger and ordered the mini version while it was on sale for Black Friday.
Lately, Juvia’s Place has been blowing up everywhere getting rave reviews from bloggers and makeup artists and receiving a ton of social media hype. I figured Black Friday would be the perfect chance to give Juvia’s Place a try and it turned out to be a great decision. For starters, Juvia’s Place seems to have great customer service. I was able to place my order with ease and received it within 4 days. That’s extremely impressive considering it was during Black Friday. Go Juvia’s Place!
I have to give Juvia’s Place another pat on the back for thinking outside of the box and embracing African culture. Each of the Juvia’s Place palettes feature Nubian themes and names that makes me feel all warm and cozy inside all this melanin. I applaud Juvia’s Place for taking a pro-black approach to makeup that’s much needed these days. And I definitely appreciate the stunning mix of bright and neutral shadows all in one palette. There’s so much versatility!
I settled on the Mini Masquerade Palette because it’s the newest palette and the most colorful of the bunch. It’s exactly the same as the original Masquerade Palette that was released earlier this year but it’s just a smaller versions with smaller pans. The Juvia’s Place Mini Masquerade Palette includes:
- Chi deep blue-purple (shimmer)
- Mali bright green (shimmer)
- Dalia cobalt blue (shimmer)
- Zola cool turquoise (shimmer)
- Makeda bright purple (shimmer)
- Zobo vivid magenta (matte)
- Calabar wine burgundy (shimmer)
- Bori bright fuchsia pink with golden shimmer (matte)
- Giza soft champagne pearl (shimmer)
- Burkina soft neutral brown (matte)
- Cairo burnt orange with golden shimmer (matte)
- Ada reddish brown (matte)
- Dahia soft peachy gold (shimmer)
- Zulu warm brick brown (matte)
- Casablanca bronze gold (shimmer)
- Fulani deep neutral brown (matte)
The first two rows are loaded with bold, playful colors that’ll definitely come in handy when I’m feeling a little fun and colorful. I love that Juvia’s Place added the brighter shades to the Mini Masquerade Palette because it shakes things up a bit and forces you to be creative. You start to think to yourself, “How I can rock this extra hot pink today?” I’m thinking about taking a few of these and popping them in my inner corners to give my eyes a flirty pop of color in addition to my signature cat eye or neutral look.
I’m also over the moon with the neutral shades Juvia’s Place tossed in as well. I’m not gonna lie. They’re quite dupable but they look amazing on brown skin and give you everything you need to create a complete look. You get a couple good transition shades (like Cairo and Burkina) and a few solid crease shades too (like Ada, Zulu and Fulani). Whether you’re feeling soft and pretty or bold and bad ass the Juvia’s Place Mini Masquerade Palette will suit your every need!
