My Daily Skincare Routine

You know what I love? When someone stops me to compliment my skin and ask what foundation I’m wearing. Especially when I’m not even wearing foundation. I immediately turn red as a tomato as I bashfully turn around and ask, “Who me?” You think little ol’ me has perfect skin? * swoons *

This post is by no means a way of bragging. Because, girl, my skin can get rough too. I’ve never struggled with acne (knock on wood!) but I’ve always had very dry, very sensitive skin that would react, rash and repeat at the drop of the time. When I was younger, I had no idea how to get a handle on my skin. Now that I’m older, wiser and have gone through a ton of trial and error, I know what works for my skin and what doesn’t. Naturally, what works for me isn’t going to work for everyone but if you’re a dry skin gal (or guy) like me struggling to achieve a healthy complexion then this skincare routine may be worth a shot!

Murad Essential-C Cleanser

Cleanser: Murad Essential-C Cleanser

My biggest skin concern is dryness but I also suffer from a bit of hyper pigmentation and dullness. My complexion isn’t crazy uneven but I do have some hyper pigmentation around my mouth that used to make finding a good foundation match a real pain in the ass. So I gave the Murad Essential-C Cleanser with high hopes and I’ve been completely obsessed ever since. The Murad Essential-C is a gentle gel cleanser with bursting citrus beads that’s incredibly refreshing and smells like yummy oranges. It’s loaded with Vitamin C and other powerful antioxidants to help reverse and prevent sun damage (like dark spots/age spots) while brightening the skin and giving it a more radiant appearance. I’ve been using the Murad Essential-C Cleanser for about 2 years now and I’ve noticed a drastic difference in my skin. For starters, the hyper pigmentation around my mouth is much less noticeable and doesn’t show through my makeup anymore. I’ve also noticed that my skin is much brighter and has a natural radiance that always shines through. Even without makeup. The Murad Essential-C Cleanser is more so geared towards guys and gals struggling with dark spots and dullness but it’s still a staple for my dry skin because it gives a gentle yet thorough cleanse that never strips my skin. The Murad Essential-C Cleanser is an all around miracle worker!

Exuviance Soothing Toning Lotion

Toner: Exuviance Soothing Toning Lotion

I know toner isn’t a part of everyone’s routine and that’s okay. It’s not an extreme necessity but I definitely prefer how my skin looks when I do. I used to think toners were just for people with acne or oily skin but anyone can use a toner. It’s all about finding the right formulas and ingredients for your skin type. My newest toner and current addiction is the Exuviance Soothing Toning Lotion. It gently and effectively removes the lingering dirt, oil and makeup my cleanser left behind so my skin is thoroughly clean and my pores aren’t clogged. The Exuviance Soothing Toning Lotion also features PHA (A Polyhydroxy Acid) to gently exfoliate so it keeps skin radiant, smooth and clear. My crocodile skin literally feels like a baby’s bottom after toning with the Exuviance Soothing Toning Lotion. The formula is incredibly gentle so it doesn’t burn or sting–not even around the eyes. In fact, the Soothing Toning Lotion actually delivers on its promise and really soothes my dry skin while priming it for my skincare.

Peter Thomas Roth Un-Wrinkle Turbo Face Serum

Serum: Peter Thomas Roth Un-Wrinkle Turbo Serum

I know you’re probably over there thinking, “Fancie, aren’t you too young for anti-aging serums?!” Nope! I’m in my late 20s and this is the prime time to start. The last thing you want to do is wait until those fine lines and wrinkles start setting in to start fighting them. Prevention is always key and having a good serum or cream in your routine helps you keep your fountain of youth for few years longer. I’ve read a number of wrinkle cream reviews, and tried out a few creams and serums too. My current fave is the Peter Thomas Roth Un-Wrinkle Turbo Serum. It’s a potent gel formula loaded with anti-aging neuropeptides to target deep, stubborn wrinkles. I don’t necessarily have wrinkles, per se, but I do have fine lines under my eyes that like to eat up concealer and smile lines around my mouth that like to do the same for my foundation. Since I’ve incorporated a serum into my routine, I feel like my fine lines are much less apparent and I don’t struggle with them as much as I used to. I just started using the Peter Thomas Roth Un-Wrinkle Turbo Serum about a month ago so I can’t give you the full scoop on if it’s improved my skin but I can say that I like it so far. The Un-Wrinkle Turbo Serum is very lightweight and adds a little moisture too. I’m curious to see how if it’ll work some magic on my fine lines in a few weeks!

Valentia Pure Glow Brightening Moisturizer

Moisturizer: Valentia Pure Glow Brightening Moisturizer

The Valentia Pure Glow Brightening Moisturizer is another newbie to my routine but I’m extremely impressed and plan on using it up throughout the winter. The Valentia Pure Glow Brightening Moisturizer is a natural based formula that’s meant to hydrate, brighten and even your skin tone. Promising right? I thought the claims were pretty outlandish but once I saw glycolic acid, kojic acid, Shea butter and hyaluronic acid in the ingredients I knew it was going to be the real deal. The Valentia Pure Glow Brightening Moisturizer is a rich cream that feels airy on the skin and absorbs rather quickly. It delivers a hell of a glow the moment I apply it so my skin never looks dull, flaky or ashy anymore. Plus, my skin feels much smoother and looks super clear too. It’s only been a month since I’ve been using the Valentia Pure Glow Brightening Moisturizer and I already think it’s a must have for dry, dull skin.

Philosophy Take a Deep Breath Oxygenating Eye Gel Cream

Eye Cream: Philosophy Take a Deep Breath Oxygenating Eye Gel Cream

For some strange reason, my under eyes are the driest part of my face and it drives me nuts. Every foundation, powder and concealer used to lay right on top of my dry skin making it look cakey and desert dry. Now that I’ve beefed up my skincare routine, my eyes aren’t nearly as dry and they’re improving daily. For months, I’ve been using the Philosophy Take a Deep Breath Eye Cream and my thirsty under eyes have been loving it. The Take a Deep Breath Eye Cream really nourishes and hydrates my gentle eyes and keeps them hydrated all day long so my concealer doesn’t look cakey and dry by the end of the day like it used to. Normally, I prefer a heavier eye cream but I love that the Philosophy Take a Deep Breath Eye Cream is so lightweight because it absorbs quickly and doesn’t interfere with my makeup throughout the day. If you need a little lightweight, nourishing moisture for your eyes then you need to check out the Philosophy Take a Deep Breath Eye Cream!
