I’m Glowing Crazy Over the Tarte Tarteist Pro Glow Palette!

When Tarte randomly decided to send a handful of beauty bloggers to Bora Bora a lot of us were left scratching our heads in confusion. There was jet skis, drones and highlighted cheeks everywhere. Who knew that trip would bless us with 2 new Tarte palettes right in time for the new year? For quite some time now, Tarte has been inching highlighters into their lineup bit by bit. First, we got a little glimpse of Tarte’s highlighters in the Tarteist Contour PalettesThen, Tarte slipped a little peek into their Color Wheel Blush Palette. Next thing you know, Tarte has a standalone highlighter and a full blown highlighting palette that comes equipped with contour goodies too. Talk about progress!

I was a little skeptical to try the Tarteist Pro Glow Palette when it was first released because I wasn’t quite sure it would be brown girl friendly. Even after seeing the swatches I was still on the fence. Then the Tarteist Pro Glow Palette finally launched at Ulta and curiosity got the best of me. After adding 4 Glow Kits to my collection last year, I knew I should have stayed very, very far away from the Tarteist Pro Glow Palette but I’m a sucker for a good glow so I swatched it to see what it was all about. Of course, I ended up liking it. Damn you, curiosity!

The Tarteist Pro Glow Palette is actually pretty nice though. The highlighters have been giving me so much life this year! I’ve been rocking Fire religiously for a couple of weeks now because I’m so obsessed with the glow it gives. The Tarteist Pro Glow highlighters have a very soft, silky texture that’s pigmented but not super intense so they don’t come off as super glittery. Instead, they’re loaded to the brim with tiny micro shimmer that’s super light reflective so it bounces and dances whenever the light catches it. Fire is my go to because it’s the deepest shade in the palette and looks the best on my brown skin. That’s not a diss to the other highlighters in the gang, though. All of them look beautiful on brown skin!

But those contour shades? I have to throw Tarte a little shade for those. A contour cream and powder does help round out the Tarteist Pro Glow Palette. However, Tarte should have either went a bit deeper or came out with different shade options for deeper skin. I love me some Tarte but I can’t excuse the fact that us melanin beauties are an afterthought whenever they release complexion products. Or the fact that Tarte alters their swatches. When the Tarteist Pro Glow Palette first released Tarte posted swatches on social media on various skin tones. On brown skin, the contour shades appeared to be much deeper than they actually were. And that’s hella disappointing. I still recommend the Tarteist Pro Glow Palette if you’re in the market for some bomb highlighters. However, if you’re looking forward to throwing those contour shades into the mix I’d say you’re best sitting this one out if you’re a dark skin diva.
