Happy New Year! Is it just me or is anyone else glad that the holiday season is finally over? When you work in retail the holiday season feels like a rollercoaster. As Thanksgiving approaches, it’s like you’re slowly chugging up that massive hill preparing for that stomach wrenching drop. Once Thanksgiving finally rears its head, you’re at the top of the hill and it’s starting to drop down at the speed at light. That’s exactly how this past holiday season felt. A long, crazy paced, never-ending rollercoaster. I’m exhausted!

Believe it or not, I’m just now getting a chance to slow down and round up my 2016 faves and my Christmas gifts to share with you. It’s crazy how much I missed you guys! Work has been kicking my butt but one of my goals for the new year is to be more engaged with you and to give you more quality content than you can handle. So the show must go on!

Tarte Tarteist Pro Eyeshadow Palette Swatches on Dark Skin

I know Christmas was weeks ago but bare with me, girl! I did a lot of random holiday shopping throughout December for my friends, family and myself. You know I had to treat myself after mustering through such a rough holiday season. So right before Christmas I decided to gift myself the new Tarte Tarteist Pro Eyeshadow Palette. I’m a huge fan of the Tartelette in Bloom Palette so the Tarteist Pro Palette intrigued me when it was first released. Honestly, the colors are very similar to the Tartelette in Bloom but I still decided to add it to my collection because I loved the large variety of mattes (you get16!) and the stunning shimmers. I look forward to finally cracking open the Tarteist Pro Palette and giving it a try now that holiday is over and my schedule is calming down. I hope I love it as much as my beloved Tartelette in Bloom!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Ultimate Glow Kit Swatches on Dark Skin

Having a wonderful significant other is a blessing! I started back dating earlier last year and I’m now in a relationship with an amazing man who totally understands me. After weeks of watching me go back and forth, I was surprised Christmas morning with the Anastasia Beverly Hills Ultimate Glow Kit that’s been on (and off) my Christmas list. Despite the fact that I own 4 of Anastasia’s Glow Kits, I was still suckered into the beauty and glamour of the Ultimate Glow Kit. The Ultimate Glow Kit features 6 metallic highlighters in white, gold and bronze that work well for all skin tones. Although the colors are beautiful, there were a lot of mixed reviews about the performance of the Ultimate Glow Kit. Supposedly, these highlighters are a lot more sheer and loaded with chunky glitter that falls all over the face. Sounds like a disaster right? Naturally, I was hesitant to spend my own money on it but I’m excited to try it. Here’s to hoping the Ultimate Glow Kit is more than glittery garbage.

Stila Star Light, Star Bright Highlighting Palette Swatches on Dark Skin

Speaking of being highlighter obsessed, there was no way I could leave behind the limited edition Stila Star Light, Star Bright Highlighting Palette behind after swatching it at work. I just had to buy it for myself! The Stila Star Light, Star Bright Highlighting Palette features 3 cream to powder highlighters with a bouncy texture that’s fun to touch and absolutely beautiful on the skin. The highlighters are a little on the sheer side but they’re buildable and give a gorgeous glow to the skin. I was a little hesitant to grab the Star Light, Star Bright Highlighting Palette at first because I wasn’t too sure I’d really use Transcendence (a pale sparkling lilac) but Kitten and Bronze looked so pretty on my brown skin that I caved and got it anyway. Again, I haven’t had a chance to actually put it on my face yet but I have a feeling the Stila Star Light, Star Bright Highlighting Palette is going to get a lot of love this year. It’s a great subtle highlighting palette for everyday wear and makes a great base for strobing with a powder highlighter layered on top. It’s so gorgeous!

Tarte Tarteist Glossy Lip Paint in Double Tap, Slay, Snap Swatches on Dark Skin

I don’t wear lip gloss too often but every now and then I’ll slip on one of the Tarte Tarteist Glossy Lip Paints at work because they’re so pigmented and feel so good on the lips. I’ve become quite the fan of the formula so I added a few shades to my Christmas list. I ended up receiving 3 shades including:

  • Double Tap peachy nude
  • Slay purple mauve
  • Snap light chocolate brown

I love all of them but my favorite at the moment is Snap because I’m still obsessed with brown lips and Snap looks amazing on brown skin. It’s the perfect nude gloss that looks great on its own or on top of your favorite nude lipstick or liner. I can definitely see myself wearing it a lot on my more carefree (aka lazy bare faced) work days.

Did you receive any beauty goodies for Christmas? What did you get?
