Rihanna set the beauty world on fire over the weekend and we’re all feeling the heat! The much anticipated Fenty Beauty by Rihanna launched Friday exclusively at Sephora. And it’s all anyone can talk about. For good reason, too! Fenty Beauty took us all by storm upon release. Rihanna kept everything under wraps until the official launch date (September 8th) including product shots and swatches. That had to take some crazy willpower considering she’s been working on Fenty Beauty for 2 years!
Rihanna managed to get the beauty community hyped beyond belief awaiting her beauty debut with no concrete sneak peeks. We all just had incredible faith in her. Rihanna always slays! We’ve seen her effortlessly pull off bold hues and neutral looks. Naturally, we all knew Rihanna was going to bring the heat once Fenty Beauty finally launched. But we weren’t expecting it to be this hot! Go Rihanna!
Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Starring…
The entire Fenty Beauty display in Sephora is marvelous and exciting. However, your eyes are bound to be drawn to her mesmerizing Killawatt Freestyle Highlighters. They’re like sparkling compacts of heaven! The star of the show is Trophy Wife, a true gold overflowing with chunky gold glitter that’ll instantly turn every head in the room. I hesitated to grab it on launch day only for it to sell out in stores the next day. Gahhh!
You’re glowing with me!
At that point, I was feeling the Fenty Beauty frenzy and just had to get my hands on something. So I opted for 2 of the other Killawatt Freestyle Highlighters. I took one look at the Ginger Binge / Moscow Mule Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter Duo ($34) and knew it was going with me.
Ginger Binge is a soft, subtle coppery bronze with a soft rose pearl. Moscow Mule, on the other hand, is an in-your-face sparkling coppery bronze with chunky pink and gold glitter. Each shade can be worn alone or layered together for a dazzling eye-popping highlight.
I also grabbed Metal Moon ($34). Which looks surprisingly good on brown skin! Metal Moon looks extremely intimidating in the pan. It’s a stark white with a soft yellow gold pearl and chunky gold and silver glitter. I just had to try it! So I slithered over to Metal Moon. And it swatched gold! Yes!! Metal Moon isn’t nearly as intense, pigmented or dazzling as Trophy Wife but it’ll hold me over until it’s restocked. I do think my fair skin beauties will love Metal Moon the way us chocolate cuties love Trophy Wife. It’s beautiful!
Light It Up, Light It Up!
Fenty Beauty isn’t all about color! Rihanna also brought the heat with her line of Matte and Shimmer Match Stix. You can buy them individually ($25) or in a color coordinated set of 3 ($54). The Match Stix Trio comes in 4 shades and I picked up the darkest one, Deep. The Deep Match Stix Trio features:
- Espresso deep neutral chocolate matte
- Suede caramel tan matte
- Sinamon deep rose gold shimmer
All 3 shades seem to work like a charm for my complexion. I’m extremely impressed! Typically, there’s always that one (or more) shade in contour kits that just don’t work for me. With the Match Stix Trio, I can comfortably highlight and contour without fear of looking like an ash ball.
All shades matter!
The Killawatt Freestyle Highlighters dazzled many but it was Fenty Beauty’s impressive foundation range that broke the internet. Rihanna came out of the gates guns blazing with a whopping 40 shades. Talk about diversity! Anyone is bound to find their perfect match from the palest pale to the deepest deep. Rihanna made sure that everyone could enjoy Fenty Beauty. She is truly iconic!
The Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation boasts buildable medium to full coverage with a soft matte finish designed to look like skin. The foundation range is incredibly diverse and impressive. But it can also be a tad bit tricky to find the right match. The Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation is quite matte so it appears much lighter in the bottle than when applied.
I assumed I was a 450 at first glance. Then I swatched 450 and realized it was way too dark for me. It wasn’t until I kept swatching that I noticed the Pro Filt’r Matte Longwear Foundation oxidizes a bit once it dries down. My best match seems to be 420, a warm bronze with a red undertone. I’ve briefly tried the Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation in store and I loved how lightweight it felt and how natural it looked. There’s a reason her foundations are flying off the shelves!
We all Gloss!
Did I mention that Fenty Beauty is crazy inclusive? Because it seriously is! Rihanna also added a lip gloss to the Fenty Beauty lineup: the Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer in Fenty Glow. It’s a translucent peachy beige with gold and silver glitter that’s sheer yet still noticeable when applied. Fenty Glow looks beautiful on all skin tones and can be worn alone or layered over your favorite lip color. I’m wearing Fenty Glow at the moment and I’m over the moon for the formula already!
Fenty Glow has a subtle tropical fruity scent with a refreshing tingling sensation upon application. The mega-sized doe-foot applicator makes it a breeze to apply just enough gloss in a single swipe. Even if you’ve got full lips, like me. I like the packaging but it’s the formula that really sells Fenty Glow. The Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminzer is nourishing and lightly hydrating so it feels so good and makes my lips look full, plump and kissable. I’m dying for Rihanna to make more shades already!
Have you checked out the Fenty Beauty line yet?
You’re playing yourself if you haven’t! From the lip gloss to the foundation, Rihanna has covered all of her bases, honey. It’s very clear that she didn’t just run to someone’s lab and slap her name all over everything. Fenty Beauty is well thought out, properly executed and made with every shade of beauty in mind. It’s a reason Rihanna has the entire beauty world shook!
