Milani Conceal + Perfect 2-in-1 Foundation + Concealer Review

Shopping for a drugstore foundation is hard. Yes, even in 2018. There’s still no testers. And certain brands make it even harder by limiting access to the full shade range. I’m looking at you Milani! The Milani Conceal + Perfect 2-in-1 Foundation + Concealer has received rave reviews since its release. But the darker shades are impossible to find. Fix it Milani!

Finding the Right Shade

Milani is now available at Ulta, Target and many more. However, the Conceal + Perfect 2-in-1 Foundation + Concealer complete shade range is only available online. I had to check several different locations to even find the darker shades of Conceal + Perfect. Initially, I settled upon 14 Golden Toffee which ended up being much too dark and too red. Eventually, I came across the shade 13 Chestnut, a warm cinnamon brown with a red undertone. Chestnut turned out to be a great match!

The Formula

The Conceal + Perfect Foundation has a very rich formula with a thick, creamy texture and full coverage. Despite the thickness, the Conceal + Perfect Foundation is rather easy to apply as it glides across skin nicely without feeling heavy. The Conceal + Perfect Foundation can be applied in various ways including using your fingers, a brush or a makeup sponge. I find that a makeup sponge (like a Beauty Blender or Real Technique’s) offers the best application as it helps to sheer out the formula a bit and really push it into your skin.

The Milani Conceal + Perfect Foundation has a creamy, radiant finish upon application. However, it soon sets to a soft matte finish. Making it a suitable foundation for both dry and oily skin. Of course, you’ll want to use a mattifying primer and setting powder if you’re oily. Or a hydrating primer if you’re more dry. You’ll also want to be careful choosing a shade too. I recommend going just a little bit lighter than normal. The Conceal + Perfect Foundation tends to oxidize a bit once it sets so it does get a little darker after applying.

Wear & Longevity

The Milani Conceal + Perfect Foundation wears quite nicely for a drugstore foundation. I was pretty impressed! The formula can hold its own through an entire work day without primer or a setting powder. And it gets even better when paired with a winning team!

My only gripe with the Conceal + Perfect Foundation is that it settles into my laugh lines. Like most matte foundations. It usually doesn’t bother me as much. But the Conceal + Perfect formula is so thick that I feel it’s rather noticeable. I absolutely have to set this with a powder. And often touch up throughout the day to keep it from cracking.

I hate that the Conceal + Perfect Foundation settles into my smile lines because, otherwise, it’s a pretty awesome foundation. The coverage is truly amazing for a drugstore foundation. And looks unbelievably natural. Especially for just $10! I think the Milani Conceal + Perfect Foundation is well worth the try if you don’t suffer from dreaded smile lines. You can find it at Ulta, Target or your local drugstore or superstore.
