February was truly a fun month for makeup! We saw a lot of new releases. As per usual. But last month birthed some really big releases that are still rolling out to stores. Making March out to be an incredibly month already!
Before we dive head first into March…
I’ve got to break down my February faves! Naturally, I got a chance to try some hot new releases like the Natasha Denona Diamond & Blush Palette and NARS Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation. But I also got a chance to try some popular products that have been chilling on the scene (and in my stash) for a while now. Including some crazy affordable drugstore products that are extremely good!
Like the CoverGirl Vitalist Healthy Elixir Foundation, for example. This foundation seriously impressed me! The CoverGirl Vitalist Healthy Elixir Foundation offers buildable medium to full coverage with a velvety soft matte finish. The formula is great for all skin types. Including my dry skin. My skin always looks naturally flawless with a subtle radiant glow that looks both healthy and beautiful. The CoverGirl Vitalist Healthy Elixir Foundation is easily one of my top foundation faves!
You can’t have flawless foundation without a good primer! Okay, maybe you can. But a primer like Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Primer makes it so much easier! The Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Primer has a creamy, silky texture that feels like a moisturizer. The formula lightly hydrates and smooths skin for a soft matte finish. I’ve used this primer with a few different foundations with great results every time. The Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Primer really helps to plump my fine lines and also locks my foundation into place all day long. I can’t get enough of this stuff!
We’ve been flooded with more than enough full coverage foundations. Enough is enough! NARS dropped the new Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation for us dry skin beauties and I’m all here for it! The Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation offers full coverage out the gate with a natural luminous finish that truly looks like skin. This foundation has also creeped its way into my top foundation faves. It’s hard finding a full coverage formula that doesn’t suck the life out of dry skin. But NARS nailed it!
I love an ultra-glam beat as much as the next makeup junkie. Just not for everyday. That’s why I’ve been hooked on the Wet n Wild PhotoFocus Concealer. The formula is so good and it only costs $3! The et n Wild PhotoFocus Concealer is creamy, easy to apply and offers buildable medium to full coverage that looks extremely natural. The finish isn’t too matte or too radiant. Making it a great option for all skin types. I use the shade Dark Cocoa because it’s just a teeny bit lighter than my foundation. So it allows me to naturally brighten under my eyes without being too stark. It’s also great for giving your brows a super clean, neat finish!
I never thought in a million years I’d be hooked on a metallic lipstick. But here I am! The new NYX Soft Matte Metallic Lip Creams have landed at Ulta and they’re super addictive. I’m particularly hooked on the shade Dubai, a shimmering bronze gold, that’s a beautiful nude for chocolate girls. The Soft Matte Metallic Lip Cream stays true to the original Soft Matte Lip Cream formula with a soft, understated matte finish that also rings true for the metallic version. Dubai isn’t in your face metallic which I love. It’s soft yet beautiful. Dubai is hands one of my favorite nudes!
Now this is what you call a drugstore gem! Black Radiance recently introduced the True Complexion Loose Setting Powder in Banana and it’s the most perfect setting powder for concealer. I’m talking holy grail status! The True Complexion Loose Setting Powder in Banana is incredibly finely milled so it has a silky, smooth feel and finish. This stuff sets my concealer like no other! It’s lightweight and non-drying but it also helps to absorb oil and lock makeup into place. So it makes sure my concealer stays put but it doesn’t look dry or cakey. The Black Radiance True Complexion Loose Setting Powder in Banana is a total win! I think this beauty tops all of my high end setting powder faves. Pretty impressive for just 10 bucks!
Tarte screwed up royally with their Shape Tape Foundation release. But I have to give credit where credit is due. The Tartelette Toasted Eyeshadow Palette is niiice. It’s a very warm neutral eyeshadow palette that works nicely on brown skin. Whether you’re going for something soft and simple or glam and smoky. I can dig that. I also love Tarte’s eyeshadow formula! Things can get a bit powdery but Tarte’s shadows have great pigmentation (most times) and blend rather well. Which made the Tartelette Toasted Palette an easy reach last month.
