Best of 2015: Foundation

Best of 2015 Foundation: Make Up For Ever Pro Finish Multi-Use Powder Foundation, Bobbi Brown Golden Nude CC Cream, Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless, Dior Diorskin Nude Air Serum

Ahh, foundation. We only have one face and yet we tend to hoard it anyway. It can really be hard to resist the urge to stock up on foundations when there’s so many great reasons to. Like changes in your skin tone in the summer and winter where you need darker or lighter shades. Or changes in your skin that cause you to switch to matte or moisturizing formulas. Or you’re just a makeup junkie who likes options and new things. I’m a little of all of the above so I have a foundation “wardrobe” as Bobbi Brown likes to call it but in 2015 I only reached for a handful of foundations.

Here were my top picks last year:

Make Up For Ever Pro Finish Multi-Use Powder Foundation #178 Sadly, this may be the last year that my MUFE Pro Finish Powder dominates my faves but it’s had one hell of a ride! I was determined to finish this baby until it was completely gone because of its smooth, velvety texture, incredible coverage and natural finish. However, I’m attempting to start 2016 on a new foot so I want to give other powder foundations a try. It’s going to be hard to completely pull away from the Pro Finish Powder but now I know where to call home if nothing else compares.

Bobbi Brown Golden Nude CC Cream Both Bobbi Brown and CC Cream were new additions to my collection this year but neither disappointed. I’ve been using Golden Nude almost all year alone as a foundation or underneath my MUFE powder as a color corrector. It’s a rich golden bronze that cancels out my dark spots, evens my complexion and adds a killer glow. I’ve used it everyday since I’ve gotten it and I can’t imagine how I was living life before it. Golden Nude really brings life to my skin!

Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless 355 Coconut Say what you want about drugstore foundations but they’re really stepping their game up! I’ve been a fan of the Maybelline Fit Me line since I first started wearing makeup so I knew I wouldn’t be disappointed by the Matte + Poreless version–which is truly amazing. 355 Coconut is the darkest shade (could use more for WOC) but it fits my skin tone well offering buildable medium to full coverage with a natural skin-like finish despite the matte formula.

Dior Diorskin Nude Air Serum #60 Tons of people were singing the praises of Diorskin Nude Air and there’s a reason why–it’s freaking amazing. Nude Air has a featherweight texture that feels like silk and blends effortlessly with medium to full coverage. And the finish? Amazing! It’s like I’m wearing nothing at all! There’s a slightly strong rose scent that weirded me out at first but it didn’t irritate my sensitive skin and actually became quite pleasant. Once I got used to the idea of scented foundation, of course.

Oooh, lordy, I’ve actually slowly phased out of foundation for the most part, but that Diorskin looks so smooth and flawless!

    1. Omg it is!! It’s one of the best foundations I’ve ever tried. The finish is just amazing!
