Best of 2015: Lipgloss

I’ll probably always choose lipstick over gloss but that never stops me from slipping on a gloss here and there. Sometimes I like layering them to change the color of my lipstick a bit or add a little shimmer and dimension. Other times I just want something light on my lips that isn’t going to suck the moisture out of them. Either way, lip gloss always finds a way to into my routine and makeup bag.

Here’s a rundown on the glosses I just had to keep around for a little while in 2015:

NYX Toasted Marshmallow Intense Butter Gloss When NYX announced they were releasing a more pigmented version of their super comfy Butter Glosses I knew I was going to love them–and I did. One of my favorite shades was Toasted Marshmallow, a muted mauve with a hint of purple. It turned out to be a great neutral lip for me so i started wearing it to work everyday during the spring and early summer. Toasted Marshmallow is a great everyday lip for WOC.

Urban Decay Bittersweet Revolution Lip Gloss Purple can be tricky to pull off sometimes but Bittersweet makes it seem like a breeze. It’s a cool grape with a hint of pink that’s rather easy to wear. Bittersweet goes on semi-sheer but it’s buildable so it looks great alone or paired with my favorite purple and pink lipsticks. Bittersweet stayed in my makeup bag pretty much all year because it’s nice and moisturizing and goes with just about everything.

Chanel Wild Rose Glossimer Wild Rose has been hiding in my stash for a while now but the second I applied it I knew it would go far in my makeup bag. I’ve been relying on this gloss for weeks to keep my lips lightly moisturized and make my lips look plump and juicy with its glossy sheen and girly glitter. Wild Rose became my go to gloss for no/light makeup days and still remains in my makeup bag for quick lip touch ups.

Make Up For Ever 104 Brown Beige Artist Plexi-Gloss Nude glosses can be super fussy when you have brown skin and dry lips but Make Up For Ever made nude gloss seem easy thanks to Brown Beige. Brown Beige is a light peachy pale that doesn’t look too light or milky on the lips. It’s actually a very soft, warm natural nude lip that’s very easy to pull off and a great option for WOC.

Yves Saint Laurent 49 Terriblement Fuchsia Gloss Volupte I rediscovered quite a few great products hiding in my stash but Terriblement Fuchsia was one of the best. It’s a shimmering bright fuchsia pink that’s insanely pretty with a plush formula. Terriblement Fuchsia remained in my makeup bags for weeks as it made all of my pink, purple and vampy lips pop.

NYX Black Cherry Tart Intense Butter Gloss I live for a vampy lip so when NYX dropped Black Cherry Tart in the spring I still wore it out. Lucky for me, there was still plenty of snow on the ground so it felt natural to rock Black Cherry Tart heavily until it started getting warm out. Black Cherry Tart is a blackened grape with a lots of shine and intense pigmentation like a liquid lipstick. It was my go to when I wanted a vampy lip without the maintenance and dryness.

Another big fan of UD Bittersweeet! Also loved all the Revlon Ultra HD Lip Lacquers ( have like 7 of them) and NYX Intense Butter Gloss in Spice Cake

    1. I almost forgot about the Revlon HD Lacquers. Those were pretty good! I swore by Bittersweet though. From the moment I got it, it never left my makeup bag lol. Spice Cake was another really great gloss that I loved myself. I’m so happy NYX extended the Intense Butter Gloss line. They’re such nice glosses!
