Just when you thought the ColourPop x Karrueche Collection was coming to an end they keep the ball rolling. That’s so ColourPop! I honestly wasn’t expecting much from Karrueche’s first ColourPop collection because I’ve never really paid attention to her style and makeup. But you know me. I can’t resist anything shiny, new or ColourPop so I eventually ordered her limited edition Ultra Matte Lips and Super Shock Cheek highlighter and ended up loving every piece.
I went from: “I don’t know about your collection, girl”
To: “Okay, Karrueche! Come through boo!”
Summer is winding down but you can still keep your highlight on fleek! Some guys and gals only like to glow in the summer but I like to glow for the gold all year long ’cause there will always be sunlight to bounce of my shimmering cheeks no matter what season it is. That’s why I have to give ColourPop 2 snaps this fall because they’ve added 4 new Super Shock Cheek highlighters to their lineup and they’re giving me all kinds of life. Who couldn’t use a banging highlighter for under $10?
There’s a million reasons to appreciate Ulta but what I love the most about shopping there is that I can grab literally everything I want all in one store. If I need a nail polish, shower cap, deodorant and a yet another eyeshadow palette I have faith that I can grab it all at Ulta. You can’t beat that convenience with a stick! Sometimes I wish Ulta carried more Prestige brands but I still appreciate the fact that Ulta embraces the beauty (and budget friendly prices) of drugstore brands too. I couldn’t be happier that you can now snag ELF from Ulta (online only at the moment) and score $3.50 off and even some BH Cosmetics goodies like the mega-popular Carli Bybel Eyeshadow & Highlighter.
When you’ve been wearing makeup for years, you start to get an idea of what colors, formulas and brands will work for you and the ones that don’t. But every now and then we get it wrong. I’m well aware that I have a warm undertone and a little extra melanin to spare so I like to opt for warm, rich colors that I know will show up on my skin tone. So I figured that the new limited edition ELF ILikeWeylie Face Palette would be a good option for me because it featured two orange-toned blushes, a champagne highlighter and a deep bronzer that all looked like it would work well for my brown skin. Boy I was wrong!
Dry skin is no fun but it doesn’t always have to be a pain in the butt. Not when you have the right tools! I always surprise people when I tell them my skin is seriously dry because I never walk out the door. But that’s only because I take moisturizing and exfoliating very seriously. Especially exfoliating. Some people are lucky enough to only have to focus on exfoliating once or twice a week but removing dead skin cells is a huge focus of mine. So much so, that I exfoliate daily. Yes daily. I can’t be walking around with dry, crusty skin under my makeup, girl!
Matching your lipstick and blush can be a daunting task when you’re always on the go with a million and one lipsticks at your disposal. I carry at least 3-4 lipsticks in my makeup bag at any given time and I often like to switch them up throughout the day depending on my mood. That’s why I always keep a neutral blush in rotation so no matter what lipstick mood I’m in my cheeks and lips will never clash with each other. One of my favorite blushes of all time is the Black Radiance Toasted Almond Artisan Color Baked Blush because it looks incredibly natural on my brown skin and pairs well with every lipstick under the sun.
The way ColourPop has blown up over the last 2 years it’s easy to believe that their products are all just hype. Let me assure you, though. They are not! Pretty much everything ColourPop comes up with turns to gold because their formulas are absolutely amazing and crazy affordable the quality. Before I got sucked into the ColourPop cult, I used to think that it was just another Instagram trend/phase that would come and go but there’s plenty of reasons why ColourPop will stick around for many more years to come. I’m a huge fan of their lippies but now I’m starting to see the magic that is in their Super Shock Shadows too. I don’t typically do cream shadows because they’re not too convenient and they often crease terribly. Not the Super Shock Shadows though! These babies are everything and more you need out of an eyeshadow–for just $5 a pop.
You know what time it is, girl. It’s time to glow! Glowing cheeks and poppin’ highlights are great all year long but you know you have to amp it up a bit during the summer. It’s only right! These days, there’s a ton of shimmering highlighters to help you get those cheeks summer ready. I’ve tried a quite a few of them but there’s always a few that stick for me and hold a special sparkling place in my heart. To help you glow up this summer, I’ve picked out my top 5 favorite highlighters (at the moment LOL) so you can be a glowing golden goddess too.
ELF is one of the most popular drugstore brands in the world but it looks like they’re trying to break away from being labeled as “cheap”. The affordable budget beauty brand seems to be taking a new direction with their latest launches which includes their new skincare collection and new collection of luxury brushes. ELF recently released a new line of brushes that are softer and studier than the original Studio Brushes but it appears that they aren’t done expanding their brush reign just yet. For the past week, this beautiful leak has been circulating around social media and it’s got me so excited! Kathleen Lights got a chance to test these stunning new brushes at an ELF event and let the cat out the bag that they were great quality and coming very soon. She mentioned that she wasn’t sure how much they’d cost or exactly when they’ll be released but I’m guessing that it’ll be within the next couple months since ELF is already letting them get a little play time. I just hope ELF doesn’t hike up the price too much because I’m interested in buying pretty much all of these brushes. Like all of them!
Will you be grabbing any of the new ELF brushes once they’re available?
It was only a matter of time before ColourPop popped up with a lip gloss line. After hitting the market with Lippie Stix, Lippie Pencils, Ultra Matte Lips and Ultra Satin Lips it was a must that ColourPop introduced a line of Ultra Glossy Lips. The new Ultra Glossy Lip line will include 21 shades ranging from nudes and reds to pinks and purples. The formula will come in 4 different finishes including:
- Sheer transparent with a hint of color
- Sheer Metallic transparent with glitter
- Creme medium coverage
- Ultra Metallic full coverage
So there’s a little something for everyone! I got a chance to try 2 of them (WeHo and Finders Keepers) after receiving them as free gifts for my last haul. So far, I like them a lot. Both shades have a Creme finish that felt creamy and went on smoothly with semi-sheer coverage. The formula isn’t exactly moisturizing but it still felt good on the lips without feeling too sticky or tacky. I’m looking forward to seeing the full range and swatches because I would love to add a couple more to my collection to layer over my Ultra Matte Lips when they start to get a little dry. You can expect to see the full line available at ColourPop on July 21st at noon PST. Act fast though because you know ColourPop releases sell out in a blink of an eye!
