Ulta 21 Days of Beauty Haul: Day 20

Benefit They're Real Push Up Liner, Too Faced La Matte Color Drenched Matte Lipstick in Troublemaker and Man-eater

No matter how much you love makeup or how much makeup you own there’s always that one signature look you regularly rock. For me, it’s a killer wing, falsies and a bold lip. That’s my go to pretty much everyday or whenever I’m in a rush and don’t have time to fuss with blending 5 eyeshadows or highlighting and contouring. I suppose that’s why I ended up indulging in both of the beauty steals on Day 20 of Ulta’s 21 Days of Beauty. Day 20 was all about wings and a poppin’ lip and that’s all me!

Bobbi Brown Black Ink Long Wear Gel Eyeliner Review

Bobbi Brown Black Ink Long Wear Gel Eyeliner

Liquid eyeliner is a must have for those early mornings when I just need a quick, intense liner to blend in my falsies and go. That’s it though. I just can’t get with using liquid liner to create my signature cat eye. After years of practice, I can make it happen but it takes a lot more effort and time. Liquid liner is just too messy, too hard to control and sometimes too streaky to give me that sharp, steady wing that fiercely slices through. Every time I try to do a wing with liquid liner, it ends up all over my lids and in the inner corner of my eyes as my hand lightly shakes with anticipation. So much stress!

Too Faced Black Sketch Marker Liquid Art Eyeliner Review

Too Faced Black Sketch Marker Liquid Art Eyeliner

Mastering liquid eyeliner is truly an art form. One wrong move and you can ruin that gorgeous smokey eye you’ve worked tirelessly on blending until your arms hurt. Or you could completely trash that wicked wing you’ve been dying to perfect. Liquid liner is a beast and it can smell fear. That’s why I prefer felt tip eyeliner pens like the new Too Faced Sketch Marker Liquid Art Eyeliners. They’re exactly my thing: super intense, sleek packaging and a precise tip.

Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner Review

Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner

Makeup is all about being creative and having fun but there’s a few products that should definitely be taken seriously–like liquid eyeliner. Like animals, liquid eyeliner can smell fear and intimidation. It just seems to prey on the meek and innocent leaving crooked lines and black smears all over the place. Liquid eyeliners can be dangerous! Well, sometimes. The liquid eyeliners that come with those little flimsy brushes that require a steady, experienced painting hand are definitely dangerous. However, the felt tip marker liquid eyeliners are a lot less intimidating and dangerous. After years of despising liquid liners, I’ve kinda grown a liking to Sharpie-esque liquid liners. They’re so much easier to use and control–even with a shaky hand.

Tarte Double Duty Beauty 101 Discovery Kit

Tarte Double Duty Beauty 101 Discovery Kit

Tarte has really been growing on me since I’ve tried the Tartelette Eyeshadow Palettes and even more so after attending their Double Duty Beauty Collection training for Ulta. Tarte actually has some really great stuff! I’ve always been on the fence to try their products because the color range always seemed better suited for lighter skin tones to me. Especially when it comes to complexion products. I still have to give Tarte the side eye on that because they’re not moving quite fast enough for me when it comes to expanding the line to include darker shades. However, I’ll cut Tarte the slimmest amount of slack because the rest of their color products are rather nice and pretty affordable for a higher end brand.

Urban Decay Rail 24/7 Waterline Eye Pencil Review

Urban Decay Rail 24/7 Waterline Eye Pencil

A good eyeliner can be hard to find but Urban Decay is one of the few brands I’ve tried that has made life a little easier for makeup lovers. The 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencils have been creeping into my collection for years now with limited edition sets and my recent acquisition of the beautiful Stash. However, it took the new 24/7 Waterline Eye Pencils to really make me realize just how well Urban Decay has perfected their eyeliner formula. My eyes are intensely watery all year round. Especially in the morning as I’m applying my makeup. Which makes getting ready a hassle sometimes because everything is sliding off after the slight water works. My eye cream, falsies and, of course, my eyeliner too.

Jouer Kitten Liner Review

Jouer Kitten Liner

When I received an email from IpsyOS for free tickets to Ipsy’s Generation Beauty Conference in LA I didn’t know what to expect besides a good time. Let me tell you. It was so much better than I expected! There were tons of brands in attendance with their own booths surrounded by some of the most beautiful and stylish people I’ve ever seen crammed into one huge space. I was like a kid in a a candy store meeting brand representatives and seeing so many friendly smiling faces. Just when I thought things couldn’t get any better I started racking up goodie bags galore filled with brands I’ve never tried but were eager to test out.

Multitask in Style with Tarte’s Double Duty Beauty Collection

Tarte Double Duty Beauty Collection for Spring 2016

Did I mention that I was starting to develop a thing for Tarte? Tarte managed to finally spark my interest with the Tartelette Eyeshadow Collection and now they’re beginning to reel me in with the new Double Duty Beauty Collection now available exclusively at Ulta. I have to be honest. Before I went to the Tarte training I was not at all impressed or interested in the Double Duty Beauty Collection. Double ended beauty products have never really been my thing because they always seemed cheap to me. Then after seeing the amazing Rainforest of the Sea Collection that was rolling out exclusively at Sephora the Double Duty Beauty Collection just looked like a disappointment.

Then I went to the Tarte training for the Double Duty Beauty Collection and got a chance to see and play with everything in person. I guess seeing really is believing because I came outta there wanting almost everyone I touched that day. LOL! Usually when we see double ended makeup it looks and feels cheap and the quality is often shoddy. Not this time around! Tarte has actually managed to make fetch happen with their latest collection of multitasking makeup.

Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes Precision Longwear Liner Review

Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes Precision Longwear Liner

As much as I love eyeshadow (and hoarding palettes lol), I don’t always have the time to create pretty eye looks. Or blend too much of anything for that matter. So I typically opt for a quick swipe of liner or a nice cat eye if I have a little extra time. Either way, eyeliner is essential in my stash and a must have in my morning routine to define my eyes and help my falsies blend seamlessly. That’s why I like to keep a handful of them around in different formulas to suit whichever mood I’m in. Or simply fit into my busy schedule.
