We’ve heard it all before. “You get what you pay for.” When it comes to things like traveling, electronics and clothes this saying usually holds true. However, the saying isn’t always true when it comes to makeup. Sometimes, you get a little more than you pay for. Or a little less. It all depends. After months and months of many people singing the praises for the BH Cosmetics Carli Bybel Eyeshadow and Highlighter Palette I was beginning to wonder was it really all that great. Or just great for the price. I mean, you get 10 eyeshadows and 4 highlighters for under $15. Pretty much anyone could live with that right?
There has been a lot of makeup collaborations this year but I’m feeling it. Sometimes it can get a little annoying to see a celebrity endorsing a brand or collection. But other times, it’s a breath of fresh air because I don’t always know who these people are. Between Tarte and MAC, I’ve been introduced to so many new designers, makeup artists and YouTubers that I probably never would have come across otherwise. Now it’s Anastasia’s turn to introduce me to someone new with her upcoming eyeshadow palette for fall.
The eyes are the window to the soul. Whether they’re smokey, natural or winged, your eyes say a lot about you before you even speak. Most days, I like to bust out a quick wing to add a little flair and quick glimpse into my glittering soul. Sometimes, though, I love to go all out with eyeshadow to boost my creativity and express my style. I usually just pick up the eyeshadow palette pick of the day and get to blending but Influenster has given me a new way to play up my eyes–with liquid.
Liquid eyeshadows aren’t new to the makeup world but they haven’t become a huge hit just yet. It seems that this will change very soon as we’re starting to see more liquid eyeshadow formulas from brands like Maybelline and now Giorgio Armani. The Giorgio Armani Eye Tints are a new collection of liquid eyeshadows in neutral shades ranging from beige to green in shimmer and matte finishes. Armani describes the formula as a long lasting tint with the smoothness of a cream that yields intense, vibrant eye looks. The Eye Tints have a very thin, lightweight formula that’s creamy but not too emollient so it doesn’t slide around much at all. Instead, it seems to offer a precise application that’s easy to blend with a pat of a finger or a synthetic brush.
Eyeshadow palettes are insanely addictive. Especially nude ones. They’re almost like pieces of chocolate. You’ll pop open a big box and say that you’ll only have a couple. Then a few more after those couple pieces because they’re just so good. Next thing you know, you’re passed out with a face full of chocolate and full tummy. This is exactly what happens with me and nude eyeshadow palettes. LOL! I don’t eat them, of course, but they’re so damn delicious to look at and easy to use that it’s impossible for me to just have a couple when there’s so many good ones out there. I just have to sample them all to feed my appetite, girl!
Just when you thought Too Faced couldn’t get any cuter Jerrod Blandino pulls a fast one on us and releases an adorable eyeshadow palette that’s Totally Cute as the name implies. First off, it’s completely pink with purple accents. Then, there’s 2 sheets of fun stickers to customize your palette to make it Totally Cute and totally yours. I died, came back to live and then died again when I got a chance to check out the Totally Cute Eyeshadow Palette in person. It’s the most girly eyeshadow palette around and I’m so here for it!

If I had a dollar for every palette that I swore I didn’t want or need I’d have enough money to buy the next new palette. Probably 3 times over. LOL! I’m quick to try (keyword here) to resist the next new, hot eyeshadow palette but sometimes it just happens. This was definitely the case with the new limited edition Tarte x Grav3Yard Girl Swamp Queen Palette. When it first launched online, my initial reaction was, “Who the heck is Grav3Yard Girl??” I soon learned that she’s a wonderful YouTube vlogger with a lot of personality and now a smokin’ hot palette to share with her Swamp Family and the rest of us makeup junkies.
The way ColourPop has blown up over the last 2 years it’s easy to believe that their products are all just hype. Let me assure you, though. They are not! Pretty much everything ColourPop comes up with turns to gold because their formulas are absolutely amazing and crazy affordable the quality. Before I got sucked into the ColourPop cult, I used to think that it was just another Instagram trend/phase that would come and go but there’s plenty of reasons why ColourPop will stick around for many more years to come. I’m a huge fan of their lippies but now I’m starting to see the magic that is in their Super Shock Shadows too. I don’t typically do cream shadows because they’re not too convenient and they often crease terribly. Not the Super Shock Shadows though! These babies are everything and more you need out of an eyeshadow–for just $5 a pop.
This has definitely been the year of celebrity and blogger collabs with pretty much every brand you can think of hopping on board. ELF is typically known for their amazingly affordable yet still good quality beauty products that are available worldwide and now they’ve teamed up with some talented beauty vloggers to give us a limited edition collection that’s to die for. One of my favorite YouTubers, the gorgeous Jackie Aina, joined forces with the mega budget beauty brand to create her own hand-picked eyeshadow palette. Each shade was carefully chosen by Jackie Aina to help you shade, sculpt and define your eyes just like she does with her signature colors.
