Urban Decay x Jean-Michael Basquiat Collection Swatches

Urban Decay x Jean-Michael Basquiat Collection Swatches on Dark Skin

Happy Sunday, makeup lovers! Before I jump right in to some Skincare Sunday goodies, I just have to show you the amazing new, limited edition Urban Decay x Jean-Michael Basquiat Makeup As Art Collection. It’s been a long time since I’ve been excited about an Urban Decay collection. The last Urban Decay collection to catch my eye was the Gwen Stefani Collection. Let’s face it. It was pretty and the packaging was cute but it was ultimately a fail for us dark skin divas.

The Jean-Michael Basquiat Collection is something totally different! The Makeup As Art Collection is bold. It’s vibrant. It’s gritty. It’s surreal. It’s edgy. Basically, the Jean-Michael Basquiat Makeup As Art Collection is everything we’ve grown to know and love about Urban Decay before the incessant Naked craze. Don’t get me wrong. I love a good neutral palette and nude lip as much as any makeup junkie. But every now and then, you’ve got to switch things up and add some color, girl!

Be a Unicorn with the Tarte Make Believe in Yourself Collection!

Tarte Make Believe In Yourself Collection Swatches on Dark Skin

Why be basic when you can be a unicorn? The world is going unicorn crazy right now and I’m all for it! Unicorns are magical and majestic. Everything life should be, in my opinion. If I could, I would go around sprinkling glitter and confetti in a unicorn headband, fairy wings and a scepter. Currently, my schedule doesn’t permit such behavior so I’m living out my dreams vicariously through the new limited edition Tarte Make Believe in Yourself Collection. It’s filled with sparkly, glittery unicorn magic that’ll leave you feeling like a glowing mythical creature.

Is the LORAC I Love Brunch Collection Brown Girl Friendly?

LORAC I Love Brunch Collection for Spring 2017 Swatches on Dark Skin

Pastels have always reminded me of Easter. Which is when I intended to post this. Whoops! I’ve been a little under the weather lately but I’m bouncing back. Full force, baby! Anywho! It’s just something about pastel colors that intrigues me and makes me feel like a little girl all over again in my big frilly pale pink and cream dresses with the huge ruffle trim sock on Easter Sunday. Oh how I hated those socks sometimes, but those were the days!

When I first saw the LORAC I Love Brunch Collection, I felt little flutters in my heart and stomach because it took me right back to those days all over again. I could just taste the Easter candies as I cracked open the metallic white boxes filled with pastel eyeshadows, lipstick, glosses and more. Such a yummy, sweet treat!

Estee Lauder Pure Color Love Lipstick Swatches

Estee Lauder Pure Color Love Lipstick in 140 Naked City, 220 Shock and Awe, 230 Juiced Up, 400 Rebel Glam, 420 Up Beet, 440 Hi-Voltage, 450 Orchid Infinity, 480 Nova Noir Swatches on Dark Skin

Love it or hate it, millennials are taking over and brands are starting to notice! I’m loving this new millennial-centric rush (especially in the beauty community) because it’s forcing brands to be more innovative and creative. Gone are the days of die hard customers that only use one brand of makeup for the rest of their days. Millennials ain’t having that! We like to switch things up. We embrace change. We may love one foundation one day and then love a completely different one the next. That’s just how millennials roll!

And if you ask me, it’s about time that brands like Estee Lauder has jumped on the wave. For decades, Estee Lauder has always been the go to high end makeup brand for women with mature skin. So they’ve always used older spokesmodels and stuck to creating classic, staple products that are practical–never trendy. For a while, this approach worked because there were still plenty of die hard Estee Lauder fans holding on for dear life. But as newer brands popped up on the scene with flashy, trendy new products for millennials to snatch up in seconds it became clear that Estee Lauder needed to shake things up a bit.

Urban Decay Vice Liquid Lipstick Swatches

Urban Decay Vice Liquid Lipstick in 1993, Conspiracy, Backtalk, Studded, WSM, Mad Swatches on Dark Skin

Okay, I love nudes and neutral shadows as much as the next girl but I couldn’t be happier to see Urban Decay moving the heck away from the Naked line for a second. Can I get an amen?! I know I can’t speak for everyone but I’m pretty sure most of you (like me) have grown tired of Urban Decay shoving Naked down our throats. It’s only so much nude a girl can take! Of course, you need your natural everyday foundation, powder, concealer and eyeshadow for simple looks. But you also need some color, girl!

NARS Now Available at Ulta!

NARS Now Available at Ulta!

Ulta is coming on up! Not to an apartment on the east side, but to the forefront of the Prestige market. Since Ulta first hit the scene in the 90s, the brand has transformed itself from just another beauty store to one of the biggest retailers of all things beauty. For years, Ulta has been playing catch up with Sephora in an effort to surpass them all while setting Ulta apart from the rest. The full service salon and massive selection of both Mass and Prestige brands has kept Ulta hot on the heels of Sephora for quite some time but this year Ulta is leveling the playing field. Happy MAC Monday, ladies! If you’ve been hanging around Fancieland since the beginning then you probably remember the days when I used to go stir crazy for MAC.
