You ready to go matte? I sure hope so! Sephora’s reign over the new Too Faced Melted Matte Liquified Lipsticks is finally over which means they’re not available online and in stores at Ulta. Yaasss! There’s still a few shades that are exclusive to Sephora but the rest of the gang is now sitting pretty at Ulta which gave me an excuse to finally give them a try. ‘Cause you know me. I love a good liquid lipstick!
Literally every time you blink there’s something new at Ulta. Rather it be Mass or Prestige, there’s a new collection or product popping up everyday that’s bound to catch your eye. One of the most innovative brands at Ulta that’s constantly churning out new products is NYX. This year, they’ve been on a serious roll this year releasing entire lines of new products every season. For fall, NYX has added 2 new gloss formulas, extended the Liquid Suede Lip Cream shade lineup, revamped the High Voltage lipsticks and came out with a new line of lip liners. Trust me when I say it’s a lot!
When I was growing up, I used to be so self-conscious about my big, full lips. I was a very slim girl with a small face and small features. My ears and nose were tiny and cute. But my lips? They stood out like a sore thumb. I was teased a lot about my lips as a kid and as a I grew into a teen I began to hate them. I used to wish my lips were smaller and more dainty. Man, those days were rough!
Now, I look back and laugh because full lips are so in style that people are paying big bucks to have them. If I could go back in time and give my younger self a piece of advice I’d say, “Girl you better flaunt them lips!” Having big lips isn’t a flaw or imperfection. If anything, it’s a blessing because there’s more room for bomb lipsticks and glosses. Just look at Kylie Jenner. She got lip injections and bam! Now she’s a social media sensation with a successful makeup brand. The possibilities of big lips are endless!
Just when you thought the ColourPop x Karrueche Collection was coming to an end they keep the ball rolling. That’s so ColourPop! I honestly wasn’t expecting much from Karrueche’s first ColourPop collection because I’ve never really paid attention to her style and makeup. But you know me. I can’t resist anything shiny, new or ColourPop so I eventually ordered her limited edition Ultra Matte Lips and Super Shock Cheek highlighter and ended up loving every piece.
I went from: “I don’t know about your collection, girl”
To: “Okay, Karrueche! Come through boo!”
There’s a lot of things that can easily put a smile on my face and pink lipstick is pretty high up on the list. I can be in a really funky mood and then pull out one of my favorite pink lipsticks or buy a brand new one…..and bam! My mood is instantly lifted as if nothing ever happened. It’s one of the many reasons I love makeup. A little lipstick just makes me happy as a kid opening a box of crayons for the first time. That’s why I often to try to pull out a good pink lipstick every Wednesday to get me through those mid-week blues and carry me happily into the weekend.
When I first started wearing makeup, I used to live for bold colors as an everyday lip. As I get older, I find myself gravitating more towards nudes to slip on and go for quick runs and work days. But rocking nudes too much gets boring and repetitive after a while. Some days, I’m dying to rock a little color without feeling the need to pair a full face with it to balance things out. That’s why I appreciate Urban Decay creating the Violate Vice Lipstick. It’s a great everyday lip that doesn’t require much effort to make it work but it still adds just a touch of color to keep me from looking too nude and boring.
I just love me some lipstick! A good lipstick can completely lift your mood and transform your look in an instant. A girl can never have too many lipsticks which is probably why Urban Decay decided to unleash 100 shades of their new Vice Lipsticks to help us perk up our pouts in every color imaginable. I’m a huge fan of Urban Decay lipsticks because they’re smooth, creamy, pigmented and long lasting so I just had to add a few more to my collection to round things out. What can I say? Lipstick is my vice!
Last year, MAC released the Vamplify Collection featuring the most amazing line of lip glosses I’ve ever tried. I hated that they were limited edition because I really loved the formula and the colors that MAC whipped up were really something nice. Lucky for us, MAC doubled back on Vamplify collection and re-released it this summer including those beautiful Vamplify glosses that I just couldn’t stop wearing. Yaaaaas! Apparently, I wasn’t the only one who thought the Vamplify glosses were due for a comeback because MAC brought back a handful of last year’s shades plus some new ones to fall in love with. I couldn’t be happier!
It was only a matter of time before ColourPop popped up with a lip gloss line. After hitting the market with Lippie Stix, Lippie Pencils, Ultra Matte Lips and Ultra Satin Lips it was a must that ColourPop introduced a line of Ultra Glossy Lips. The new Ultra Glossy Lip line will include 21 shades ranging from nudes and reds to pinks and purples. The formula will come in 4 different finishes including:
- Sheer transparent with a hint of color
- Sheer Metallic transparent with glitter
- Creme medium coverage
- Ultra Metallic full coverage
So there’s a little something for everyone! I got a chance to try 2 of them (WeHo and Finders Keepers) after receiving them as free gifts for my last haul. So far, I like them a lot. Both shades have a Creme finish that felt creamy and went on smoothly with semi-sheer coverage. The formula isn’t exactly moisturizing but it still felt good on the lips without feeling too sticky or tacky. I’m looking forward to seeing the full range and swatches because I would love to add a couple more to my collection to layer over my Ultra Matte Lips when they start to get a little dry. You can expect to see the full line available at ColourPop on July 21st at noon PST. Act fast though because you know ColourPop releases sell out in a blink of an eye!
ColourPop has to be the most addicting makeup brand ever. When ColourPop first hit the scene, I just couldn’t understand the huge fascination with them. Then I placed an order and it all clicked. From the shadows to the lipsticks, ColourPop makes some of the most amazing products I’ve ever tried. And they’re all under $10! So, by makeup junkie logic, I’d be doing myself a disservice to not try their new or limited edition products after having such a great run with them. Right? Don’t answer that.
