January Empties!

It Cosmetics No. 50 Serum Anti-Aging Collagen Primer, Peter Thomas Roth Un-Wrinkle Turbo Face Serum, Prada Candy Eau de Parfum, Clinique All About Eyes Eye Cream, Bare Minerals Skin Longevity Vital Power Infusion

Let’s take a quick break from Project BOMB, shall we? You’ve probably noticed that I’ve picked up a ton of new goodies in the last few months but what you probably didn’t know is that I’ve also been determined to start using what’s already in my stash more. Whether you’re a beauty blogger or beauty enthusiast, it’s easy to get caught up in the hype of the hottest shiny new product but what really matters is actually using the stuff. No sense in wasting money on things you won’t use, right?

With this logic in mind, I decided to start going hard with a few products that I knew I could finish up with a little consistency and determination. In just a few months, I managed to finish up a handful of beauty products. Woo hoo! Most of it was skincare, of course, but I’m still pretty impressed that I was able to stick with these products for so long. Here’s a rundown of my January empties:

Project BOMB: Juvia’s Place Mini Masquerade Eyeshadow Palette

Project BOMB: Juvia's Place Mini Masquerade Eyeshadow Palette

Happy Monday, darlings! Project BOMB is still underway and now that we’ve got the lips covered with Iman, we can move on to the eyes with Juvia’s Place. Juvia’s Place is a newer brand that just popped up on the scene a couple of years ago with their vibrant African-themed eyeshadow palettes that are crazy pigmented and out of this world beautiful. For months, I had been eyeing a few of Juvia’s Place eyeshadow palettes because the color schemes are so unique and I’ve seen so many people raving about how awesome their eyeshadows are.

Project BOMB: Iman Luxury Moisturizing Lipsticks

Iman Luxury Moisturizing Lipsticks Flirtatious, Black Brandy, Wild Thing, Opal Swatches on Dark Skin

Normally, I’m all about pink on Wednesday but today I want to do something a little different. Today marks the beginning of Black History Month and I thought it would be a fabulous idea to celebrate the beauty of melanin through makeup. It can be hard to find makeup when you’re on the deeper end of the spectrum. Luckily, there’s some amazing melanin beauties out there who have stepped up to create an entire line dedicated to helping women of all shades feel beautiful. Even the darkest of divas!

So I decided to kick off Project BOMB (Black Owned Makeup Brands) to showcase different BOMBs and products that are brown girl friendly and support our local communities. To kick off Project BOMB, I’d like to reintroduce you to the Iman Luxury Moisturizing Lipsticks aka one of the best lipsticks you’ll ever try.

Plant Kisses for Days with the NYX Liquid Suede Vault!

NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick Vault Swatches on Dark Skin

Don’t you hate when you set out to do something and then you get too busy to follow through? That’s exactly what happened to me all throughout the holiday season. I intended to show you guys so much more from swatches to looks but holiday at Ulta was slammed and it left me tired and playing a nasty game of catch up well into the new year. Take for instance the lovely limited edition NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick Vault that dropped during holiday. It featured a whopping 24 mini Liquid Suede lipsticks for just $50. Crazy good, right?!

Except for the fact that it took me about 2 months to really sit down to shoot, arm swatch and also lip swatch all 24 shades. Whew! Unfortunately, the NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick Vault is all sold out by now. However, I still wanted to share all these swatches with you because all of the shades are permanent and readily available (in full sizes of course) at Ulta. So I guess we’ll just consider this a NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick library to help you shop!

Peach Me, I’m Dreaming!

Too Faced Sweet Peach Collection Swatches on Dark Skin

Just when you thought Too Faced couldn’t get any cuter, Jerrod turns around and whips up an entire Sweet Peach Collection filled with eyeshadow, lip gloss and more that all smell like freshly picked peaches. I’m dying! I’m a sucker for cute packaging and yummy smelling makeup so you know I was all over the Sweet Peach Collection. My obsession first started last year when Too Faced dropped the Sweet Peach Eyeshadow Palette and set the makeup world (and my soul) on fire. Now, I’ve got an entire collection of Sweet Peach goodies to pair with it and I’m oh so giddy. Yay for peaches!

I’m Glowing Crazy Over the Tarte Tarteist Pro Glow Palette!

Tarte Tarteist Pro Glow Palette Swatches on Dark Skin

When Tarte randomly decided to send a handful of beauty bloggers to Bora Bora a lot of us were left scratching our heads in confusion. There was jet skis, drones and highlighted cheeks everywhere. Who knew that trip would bless us with 2 new Tarte palettes right in time for the new year? For quite some time now, Tarte has been inching highlighters into their lineup bit by bit. First, we got a little glimpse of Tarte’s highlighters in the Tarteist Contour PalettesThen, Tarte slipped a little peek into their Color Wheel Blush Palette. Next thing you know, Tarte has a standalone highlighter and a full blown highlighting palette that comes equipped with contour goodies too. Talk about progress!

Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge is Really a Miracle!

Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge Review

When the Beauty Blender first hit the scene, I knew I had to have it because it was considered the sponge to have for a perfect makeup application. And it was. Before the Beauty Blender, we were stuck with those bland white makeup wedges that were either too soft and soaked up way too much product or too stiff to blend. The Beauty Blender changed the game and also opened the flood gates for other brands to come up with their own makeup sponges to compete.

I hope you’ve been enjoying your New Year! Here’s to hoping that 2017 is gentler yet still fierce. Because I think we can all agree that 2016 was a little rough around the edges. It wasn’t all bad though! We saw a lot of great releases, collaborations and more in the beauty community last year that blessed us with a lot of great products. I know I’m a little late to the party but there was no way I could truly kiss 2016 goodbye until I shared all of my favorite products with you. It’s only right!

The Gift of Glam!

Tarte Tarteist Pro Eyeshadow Palette, Anastasia Beverly Hills Ultimate Glow Kit, Stila Star Light Star Bright Highlighting Palette, Tarte Tarteist Glossy Lip Paint Double Tap, Snap, Slay Swatches on Dark Skin

Happy New Year! Is it just me or is anyone else glad that the holiday season is finally over? When you work in retail the holiday season feels like a rollercoaster. As Thanksgiving approaches, it’s like you’re slowly chugging up that massive hill preparing for that stomach wrenching drop. Once Thanksgiving finally rears its head, you’re at the top of the hill and it’s starting to drop down at the speed at light. That’s exactly how this past holiday season felt. A long, crazy paced, never-ending rollercoaster. I’m exhausted!

Believe it or not, I’m just now getting a chance to slow down and round up my 2016 faves and my Christmas gifts to share with you. It’s crazy how much I missed you guys! Work has been kicking my butt but one of my goals for the new year is to be more engaged with you and to give you more quality content than you can handle. So the show must go on!

On Wednesday’s We Wear Pink!

Juvia's Place Mini Masquerade Palette and ColourPop x Hello Kitty Lock Diary Ultra Matte Lip

Happy hump day, girl! For most people, holiday season is a time for rest, relaxation, plenty of good food and quality time with the family. That isn’t always the case if you work in retail, though. I’ve been busier than ever lately and haven’t had much time to play in all my new makeup like I want to. Now that we’ve got past Christmas, things are slowing down a bit and I have a little bit more time to crack open my new goodies.

One of the first things I reached for was the Juvia’s Place Mini Masquerade Palette. It has a gorgeous mix of neutrals and bold brights in a variety finishes from matte to foiled. I needed a little pick me up this week so I decided to skip the neutral look and go all out with pink lips and eyes this week. And since I was all pinked out I figured I’d share the look I created with you today. 😊
