Goodbye August, hello September! I’m not all too excited about winter nipping at my butt anytime soon but I am getting a teeny tiny bit excited for the oversized, warm comfy sweaters and boots that fall brings. And the vampy lipsticks and new collections! Fall always means new makeup. Don’t argue just accept it. There’s so many new products and collections right around the corner (plus holiday) that I’m trying to use up everything in sight to help make room. Here’s what I reached for the most this month:

August Empties!

Lancome Bi-Facil Double Action Eye Makeup Remover, Bobbi Brown Instant Long-Wear Makeup Remover, Vichy Purete Thermale Cleansing Micellar Solution, Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel Cream, NARS Amande Radiant Creamy Concealer

Believe it or not, every now and then I actually finish up some stuff! For normal people, this is no big deal but once you start to collect beauty products like stamps it gets harder and harder to finish up stuff. I guess August was just a really good month for me because I managed to polish off a handful of skincare and makeup goodies. Yayyyy!

My New Healthy Skincare Regimen by Murad

Murad Essential-C Healthy Skin Regimen

A little while ago, the wonderful Danielle from Style and Beauty Doctor hosted a Murad skincare giveaway and I won. Woohoo! I’ve been on quite the skincare kick lately so I was pumped to finally get a chance to try this popular (and pricey) line that I’ve heard so many great things about. The prize was a Murad Healthy Skincare Regimen Set which included deluxe samples of a cleanser, peel, serum, eye cream, moisturizer and a bonus Invisiblur Perfecting Shield which has received nothing but rave reviews. I feel like I’ve hit the jackpot!

Shea Moisture African Black Soap Problem Skin Facial Mask Review

Shea Moisture African Black Soap Problem Skin Facial Mask

It seems to be the older I get, the more focused I become on skincare. Makeup will always be my first beauty love but now that I’m in my mid-20’s I believe it’s time for me to start getting more serious about skincare. When I first got into makeup, I didn’t know squat about maintaining a healthy complexion so I kept it simple with just the basics: cleanser and moisturizer. Since then, I’ve learned a lot more so I now have a growing arsenal of more complex products like toner, scrubs and masks — which have saved my life on many occasions.

Yves Saint Laurent Touche Éclat Blur Primer Review

Yves Saint Laurent Touche Éclat Blur Primer Review

Most people seem to struggle and complain about their oily skin problems. But things could be worse. You could have, gasp, dry skin problems. My makeup probably won’t end up sliding off my face by the end of the day but that doesn’t mean that having dry skin is a walk in the park either.

For starters, people with dry skin have to mega-moisturize with lotions, creams, oils and everything in between to keep our skin from looking all flaky and gross. Then we have to layer on more creams and such to combat those pesky signs of aging which develop and show twice as quickly on dry skin. See? Dry skin ain’t easy!

Makeup Must Have: MAC Prep + Prime Fix+

MAC Prep + Prime Fix+

The only thing better than makeup? Makeup infused with skincare. You get to perfect your skin all while making yourself look pretty. Win, win! It’s always nice to have a thing or two in your stash that actually benefits your skin instead of clogging your pores and causing breakouts. One of my favorite wonder products is the MAC Prep + Prime Fix+ spray. It’s a vitamin and mineral enriched water mist with a blend of green tea, chamomile and cucumber designed to hydrate, soothe and refresh skin, and finish makeup.

Shea Moisture Lip Exfoliator Review

Shea Moisture Lip Exfoliator

As a self proclaimed lipstick queen, I have become obsessed with keeping my lips soft, smooth and flake free. There’s nothing worse than finding the perfect lipstick shade, slathering it on and then watching your dry lips flake, peel and pick that poor color apart. It’s heartbreaking! That’s why I rarely hesitate to pick up a new lip scrub here and there whenever I spot one.

What Are Your Nighttime Essentials?

Vichy Purete Thermale 3-in-1 Calming Cleansing Solution, Chanel Lotion Douceur Gentle Hydrating Toner, Chanel Lait Confort Creamy Cleansing Milk, Bobbi Brown Extra Balm Rinse Cleanser

I used to be a bit of a slacker when it came to nighttime cleansing but now I’m much more diligent about keeping up with a nighttime skincare routine to keep my skin looking its best. Now that I’m sporting a full face of makeup 5 days of week it’s important that I remove all traces of makeup and dirt before crashing because the last thing I need is a face full of breakouts. So not cute!

Before, I would just grab a makeup wipe and go to bed but now I actually take the time out to thoroughly cleanse my skin. Here’s my current nighttime essentials:
