Maybelline Rebel Bloom Lipstick Round Up Part One

Maybelline Orchid Ecstasy, Rose Rush, Power Peony, Blushing Bud, Barely Bloomed Rebel Bloom Color Sensational Lipstick

Ahh we meet again, Friday! I’m a little salty I’ll be spending my night working but at the very least I get to play in some lipsticks and enjoy the warm weather for a little bit. That’s all a girl could ask for! Last week, I did a quick roundup of my Too Faced Melted Metallic Lipstick stash so I thought, “Why not do a Rebel Bloom lipstick round up this Friday?”

Earlier this year, Maybelline introduced the Rebel Bloom lipsticks as an ode to spring and added the 10 new shades to the permanent lineup. The Rebel Bloom Lipsticks are all about pastels and come in a range of shades from pink, purple and nude. The color range sounds a little scary but the formula makes each shade much more forgiving than you’d expect.

The Rebel Bloom formula has a very soft, creamy emollient texture that’s lightweight, easy to apply and comfortable to wear. It glides across the lips with semi-sheer yet buildable coverage and powdery floral scent. I prefer full coverage lipsticks but I really like the Rebel Bloom lipsticks because they allow your natural lip color to shine through and sort of “melt” into the lips–making these pastels totally wearable.

The wear time varies from shade to shade–the lighter shades last for around 2-3 hours while I get between 3-5 hours from the darker shades. But the experience overall is pretty consistent. I highly recommend them!

  • Barely Bloomed is a pale peachy beige that’s better suited for fair complexions. It emphasizes dryness and slightly settle into lip lines so I recommend pairing it with a balm/primer and lip liner.
  • Blushing Bud is a neutral rosy pink that both fair and deep complexions can pull off.  The color doesn’t highlight flakes or settle into lip lines. It doesn’t look chalky either so it’s a great everyday pink for WOC.
  • Power Peony is a bubblebum pink with cool undertones. It’s a vibrant, ultra feminine statement lip that’s sure to be a hit among pink lip lovers. There’s some slight settling and the color emphasizes dry spots so be sure to exfoliate and use a lip liner.
  • Orchid Ecstasy is a vibrant violet with a slight pink undertone that’s suitable for all complexions. It’s a playful purple that can be sheered out for a wash of color or built up for juicy intensity. The color doesn’t emphasize flakes or settle into lip lines so you can easily apply and go.

It kinda is. I definitely have to wear a lip liner with it. Blushing Bud on the other hand is super easy to wear and so pretty. I love it!
