Milani Crush Amore Matte Lip Creme Review

Milani Crush Amore Matte Lip Creme

Since the new Milani Amore Matte Lip Cremes are limited edition, it was my intention to test a few shades, review them together and repeat. Well, I slipped one on the second I finished swatching them, and girl, I couldn’t wait. At all! I just had to tell you about how awesomely amazing the new Milani liquid lipsticks are. Because you need them in your life RIGHT NOW!

Not tomorrow. Not later on. NAOW! There’s zero room for hesitation. None! The first shade I tried was Crush, a deep warm chocolate brown with a strong red undertone and the most delicious vanilla cake batter scent. Browns usually make me a little nervous because they can either look really good or really awkward on deeper complexions so I tackled Crush first to see how I’d like the color. The verdict?

Love it! I wasn’t wearing any makeup at all the first time I tried it on and I still loved the way the color looked on me. Which is saying a lot when it comes to the more unique, funky shades like this chocolatey beauty. ‘Cause sometimes you need a full face to really balance out some colors but Crush just works. Honestly, I think Crush would look amazing on both light and dark complexions alike and would make a killer fall lip.

Now on to the formula! To put it in a nutshell, the Amore Matte Lip Creams are pretty much a spot on dupe for the Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks. The formulas are so much alike that the only difference I was able to spot was on the price tag ($7 vs $20).

Crush has a slightly thick, lightweight creamy texture that applies smoothly and evenly with full coverage in a single swipe. Upon application, the formula is comfortable and non-drying but it starts to feel a little sticky and tight as it begins to set to an ultra matte finish after about a minute or so. Just like the Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks.

Once Crush sets, it’s not completely budge-proof but it’s still damn near indestructible. I wore Crush for 2 days in a row and both times it lasted well over 8 hours before I noticed minor signs of fading. I would apply Crush in the early afternoon and still wake up with reddish brown lips the next morning. The staying power is insane!

And the best part? The Amore Matte Lip Creme formula doesn’t seem drying in the least bit. Of course, I slathered on one of my fave balms before applying but I didn’t need to touch it again for the rest of the day. Crush was just all too comfortable to wear for an ultra matte liquid lipstick. The only downside I can think of is that Crush isn’t completely transfer-proof. However, it still doesn’t deposit much color at all once it sets and it’s lasted me through a greasy plate of nachos, multiple slices of ice cream cake and a juicy burger without needing to reapply or looking all patchy and funky. Overall, Crush is a perfect dream of a liquid lipstick and I’m inclined to believe the rest of the gang is just as amazing. Here’s to hoping this limited edition jazz is just a test run because the Amore Matte Lip Cremes absolutely need to be permanent!

  1. Dang! I’ve looked everywhere for these! I guess if I want them I’m going to have to order them online! ARGH!!! That is SO frustrating! Walgreens doesn’t even carry Milani here and the displays that I have found aren’t updating their lines! It makes me want to scream! Especially when it comes to a LE line! That is a beautiful chocolate, and I’d love to see it in real life! I guess that’s just not going to happen. I’d better get it soon because I’m about to have to lock down the finances – tight. I’ve been a bad girl as of late and I’ve got to get things under control or else. And trust me the “er else” isn’t pretty. I wish I had the freedom that you have to buy products Fancie, but with my bills…. ugh. Have fun with those!!!

    1. Lol noooo you don’t! Now that I’ve gotten better with my money I often find myself sacrificing certain things for makeup. Like I’ll skip a manicure that week or start packing a lunch and such. They’re things I can cut back on anyway but it sounds silly to sacrifice stuff for makeup once I say it out loud lmao. Were you able to get your hands on them at least? I just checked the site but didn’t see them so I’m assuming they sold out lightning fast. I really hope you were able to get the shades you wanted!

      1. I never did find them. It frustrates me to NO END! I even told them at CVS!! Why have a display if you aren’t going to update it! ERRR! I want these! I did finally get a real techniques foundation brush yesterday – but girl, I’m watching my p’s and q’s. I have to! I got the order money back (or at least an email) from Sephora but my credit card hasn’t posted it yet and i”m just waiting with bated breath!!! Shoot, I stopped getting manicures! I’m nail-less right now! I’ve got some things that I have to take care of. It will get better! I have faith!!! God has been blessing me in other ways. Makeup will return!!

        1. Aww boo! It looks like Milani finally put them on the site but they went pretty quickly. When I checked, everything was sold out. I’m surprised Milani decided to make these limited edition considering all the new liquid lipstick lines available. There’s definitely a market for them and I’m sure they knew these would fly off the shelves. Here’s to hoping they surprise us all and add them to the permanent collection like they did the rose blushes. And you’re darn right things will get better! That’s always the attitude to have. I’ve noticed that when I’m struggling in one area it’s because God is gearing up for a big blessing in another one. Keep the faith! And treat yourself the moment you can ;). I finally have some closing shifts coming up so I’ll be able to make it to the post office to send you your Bobbi Brown goodies soon!

          1. Awe sweetie, that would be wonderful!!! And yes your right! I’ve had a difficult month! It is getting better though! I went to church again last night- and feeling more hopeful. The pain has been better. I’m ever SO grateful for that you know! It really sucks being in pain Fancie. However, when I’m not, I’m totally psyched. I’m in between makeup colors now because my tan is fading so I am going to have to mix foundations, and I need to go and get a new color of Colorstay. I love that stuff. It’s better than high-end if you ask me for blending. It just lasts and lasts. Did I tell you I got a new brush? Yes a Real Techniques – but it seems small to me. I use it and my NYX one, I blend with both. Flawless coverage girl. It makes putting on the liquid a breeze. Hope everything is going fantastic for you… I’m hanging in down here!!! I’ll be looking for my goodies!!!! That is so sweet of you Fancie!!! I’m excited!!!!

    1. LOL thank you! Milani’s limited edition collections disappear so quickly and they’re already so hard to find. I don’t want anyone thinking they can take their sweet time getting these because it ain’t happening lmao

OMG, that’s gorgeous. I’m glad to hear the formula is good. Here’s hoping my Walgreen’s has them. (Mine has such a small, incomplete Milani display. 🙁 ) If not, it may be time to put in another order…..

    1. I hope you find them! It seems that a lot of people have been struggling to locate a display. I really wish Milani would just make them permanent!

I got this in Romance (the one the model is wearing in the ad), and it is the most gorgeous red. I’m still testing it though but the color is killer! Glad to hear these are similar to the Kat Von D formula

    1. I’m glad you were able to find them! I haven’t tried Romance yet but I think I’m gonna try it out when I go out next weekend. It looks like it’ll make a great night lip!
