Summer Empties!

Bobbi Brown Hydrating Rich Cream Cleanser, Pixi Glow Tonic Exfoliating Toner, Peter Thomas Roth Cucumber Gel Mask, Juice Beauty Green Apple Age Defy Serum, Clinique Turnaround Concentrate Extra Radiance Renewer

Buying new beauty products is easy. There’s always something shiny and new around the corner that tempts us to switch products in the blink of an eye. I know I’m guilty for changing my lipstick, highlight, eyeshadow and more on a regular basis so it seems almost impossible for me to use up all my makeup. Skincare, on the other hand, is a little different. Once I find a good skincare product I stick to it until the death of it. That’s how I’ve managed to rack up a small pile of skincare empties this summer. From cleanser to serum, I’ve actually managed to make a commitment to a few beauty products until the very end. Here’s a quick rundown of all of my summer skincare empties:

Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Skin Therapy Cleansing Oil Review

Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Skin Therapy Cleansing Oil

Last year, I discovered the wonderful world of cleansing oil when I tried Bobbi Brown’s Soothing Cleansing Oil and became a fanatic. Oh my goodness. You have never truly cleansed until you’ve tried a good cleansing oil with a foaming cleanser together. Double cleansing is life! After going through both of my mini bottles of Soothing Cleansing Oil I was determined to buy the full sized until more and more new makeup releases and collections started hitting my wallet back to back. I quickly went from, “OMG I gotta have my Soothing Cleansing Oil asap!!” to, “Do I really want to spend $44 on a cleansing oil right now?” Oh how our priorities change when new makeup rolls around!

Pacifica Cactus Water Micellar Cleansing Tonic Review

Pacifica Cactus Water Micellar Cleansing Tonic

If you haven’t noticed by now, I’m pretty big on maintaining a clear, healthy complexion. I like to thoroughly moisturize and condition my skin to keep it looking plump and youthful (read all bout that here) and make sure my complexion looks even and radiant (more about here). However, I’d be lying if I said that removing my makeup before bed is something that I’m always passionate about. I absolutely hate sleeping in makeup as I’m fully aware of the immediate and long term consequences on my skin. But after a long day, sometimes I just want to dive face first into bed not wash my face and then layer on serum, eye cream and night cream. I think we al have those long days where we’re just too tired to even think about hovering over the sink to wash off the day’s makeup.

My Secret Weapons for Brighter, More Even Skin

Murad Essential-C Cleanser, Pixi Glow Tonic Exfoliating Toner, Murad Essential-C Day Moisture

Fighting those dreadful signs of aging is definitely high up on the skincare priority list but achieving a brighter, more even complexion is certainly right behind it! The only thing more annoying than dealing with fine lines, dullness and wrinkles is an uneven complexion marked with dark spots. Hyper-pigmentation (or dark spots) are common under the eyes, around the mouth and forehead for many people–myself included. For years, I’ve pretty much accepted the fact that dark spots were just a way of life because I had no idea that there was a way to diminish them. Boy was I wrong!

Through the years, I’ve been learning a ton more about skincare and I was shocked to learn how a simple tweak in your routine could transform the appearance and texture of skin. Even when it comes to dark spots. Hyper-pigmentation isn’t a skincare struggle we’re faced to deal with. It’s actually easy to treat and correct with the right products and lots of persistence. Less than a year ago, I introduced 3 new products to my skincare routine just to see what they were all about. After a few weeks of consistently using them I started realize a difference in the appearance of my skin. Not only was my complexion visibly brighter and more radiant but my dark spots were also beginning to fade leaving my skin looking more even and healthy. It would be totally selfish of me not to share my skincare secrets with you so I’m going to walk you through exactly how I achieved a brighter, more even complexion using my 3 secret weapons.

Peter Thomas Roth Gentle Foaming Cleanser Review

Peter Thomas Roth Gentle Foaming Cleanser

The best part about being a girl is getting to sit in front of the mirror for over an hour beating your face to perfection. From perfectly blended smokey eyes to a stunning highlight and sharp contour, I just love sitting in front of my vanity and laying out a full face of makeup to look more fierce than ever before. That’s what being a girl is all about! However, one of the best feelings in the world is when you get to go home and take it all off so your skin can breathe freely and, alas, you can wipe your eyes. Sweet relief!

I have no idea why I’m always so eager to rub my eyes at the end of a long day but it’s like second nature once I finally make it home and sit in bed to catch up on my favorite shows. That’s why some nights I immediately rush to the bathroom to remove my makeup so I can rub my eyes and pass out watching TV in peace. Because there’s nothing worse than falling asleep without removing your makeup and waking up in a panic that your skin may or may not end up falling off by the end of the week. Yikes!

Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water Review

Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water

When I actually have enough time to sit in the mirror and lay out a full face of makeup it’s pure bliss! It’s just so much fun whipping up creative eye looks, highlighting and contouring, popping on a little blush and lots of highlight. It really puts me in the zone. Ironically, though, the best part about getting all dolled up is taking it all off at the end of the day and hopping in the sack. Ahhhh, sweet relief!

My Current Daily Skincare Routine

Morning Skincare Routine: Murad Essential-C Cleanser, Lancome Advanced Genifique Youth Activating Concentrate, Pixi Glow Tonic Exfoliating Toner, Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base, Bobbi Brown Extra Eye Repair Cream

Makeup will always be my first love but as I get older I’m starting to become more and more intrigued by skincare. A beat face is only as good as the canvas and lately I’ve been determined to make my face the best canvas ever. I’ve always had pretty clear skin but after working for Bobbi Brown I learned quite a lot about how to properly care for my skin and keep it healthy and clear.

As a result, I’ve beefed up my skincare routine quite a bit and if you follow me on Snapchat then you know it’s been working like a charm! So I figured I’d be a good beauty blogger and share the wealth by giving you a rundown on how I’ve been keeping my skin in tip top shape since I’ve last checked in.

Completely Remove the Day by Double Cleansing

Lancome Galatee Confort Milky Cream Cleanser, Bobbi Brown Soothing Cleansing Oil, Double Cleanse

Ahhh removing your makeup. It’s so bittersweet. You have to wipe away that precious slay you crafted yet you finally get to touch your face and relax. The most important goal of removing your makeup though is to keep your skin clean, clear and healthy so it looks good under all your favorite products. Not covered in breakouts and such because your pores are clogged. That’s no good!

However, completely removing your makeup can be easier said that done sometimes. Especially if you’re a makeup junkie who likes to rock a full face. Getting off all of the foundation, waterproof eye makeup, concealer and indestructible liquid lipsticks can be tricky but certainly not impossible. Thanks to Danielle, The Style & Beauty Doctor, I’ve been double cleansing to thoroughly remove my makeup and it works like a charm — no matter how much cake I’m wearing.

The only thing that competes with the refreshing feeling of removing your bra and pants after a long day is the refreshing feeling of removing all of the day’s gunk off your face. It’s such a sigh of relief.

“Ahh, I can finally rub my eyes and rest my face on stuff.”

Even if my face is beat for the makeup gods there comes a time when I’m just ready to wash it all off and hit the sack. That’s why I love a good cleanser. It just helps makes that transition into relaxation/bed time oh so simple.
