NYC Individual Eyes Compact Swatches & Review

I haven’t been wearing eyeshadow much but I was still pretty excited to try out the NYC Individual Eyes compact I received in my Influenster Beauty Blogger vox box. It was smokey just how I like it! The compact contains a mix of frosty smokey shades that looks like they’ll create the perfect smokey look. I’ve never tried any of NYC’s shadows but the compact looked pretty decent. Check it out!

Included in my IndividualEyes palette were four frosty smokey shadows, a shimmery cream illuminator and a creamy flesh toned eyeshadow primer base. Which I think were really nice additions to a $5 drugstore palette! The color selection is pretty typical for a smokey compact. There’s a soft white highlight, frosty light silver for an all over lid color, and a deeper gray and black shadows for crease colors. I was a little disappointed this compact didn’t include at least one matte shadow for the crease but it’s no big deal. Especially since the shadows all turned out to be pretty pigmented!

Even without the primer these shadows are actually pretty great quality! Not only are they pigmented but they’re actually pretty soft and velvety. I wasn’t really expecting such nice quality from this compact! I didn’t think the shadows could get any better but they actually looked even better over the primer. I was pretty leery about the primerĀ at first but it also turned out to be pretty nice!

The primer was pretty creamy but not too creamy and really made the shadows pop. Of course it didn’t apply a flesh color on me but it still turned out be a pretty neutral base that didn’t alter the color of the shadows at all. The illuminator appeared to be nice also but I didn’t really have much use for it. It’s a little too light for my taste but for lighter ladies I think it would look beautiful.

Overall, I think this is a pretty nice palette and definitely a great value! I only had two minor problems with this compact. First, the shadows did have a bit of fallout because they were so soft but I didn’t have a glitter overload all over my face so it’s nothing too bad. Second, I really do wish they would have included a matte shadow for the crease. It bugs me a bit that so many eyeshadow palettes include a ton of shimmery and frosty shadows without at least one matte shadow for the crease. Bleh! But it’s still an excellent value and I totally recommend! Check out the look I created using it!
